Looking to practice the arcane and become a mage in Baldur’s Gate 3? You’ve got lots of options to decide between, from class choices to quarterstaves and of course, spells. Going with the tried and true Sorcerer is always a fantastic choice, and today we are here to talk about the best staves for Sorcerers in Baldur’s Gate 3.
The best quarterstaves for Sorcerers in Baldur’s Gate 3
Any spell-slinging class worth their salt knows not to leave home without their trusty quarterstaff. Quarterstaves are the signature weapons of Sorcerers and Wizards.
Almost all quarterstaves have 1d6 as their damage, so you’ll most likely not use them for bonking enemies on the head, despite how fun that sounds, but rather for their spell-enhancing abilities. If you’re looking to get your hands on the best quarterstaves, here are your options.
|Markoheshkir||(Act 3) Globe of Invulnerability in Ramazith’s Tower.||The only legendary quarterstaff, Markoheshkir provides lots of power to your spells with Arcane Enhancement, Arcane Battery, and of course Kereska’s Favour, which lets you use select spells from all elements.|
|Staff of Spellpower||(Act 3) House of Hope, use the Inert Infernal Gem to open the locked door. Must pass a Wisdom (10) and Arcana (20) check.||Has the same stats as Markoheshkir, minus Kereska’s Favour. Can tide you over until you get the Markoheskir, or be used on another mage.|
|Incandescent Staff||(Act 2) Purchased from Quartermaster Talli at the Last Light Inn.||Grants ranged spell attack +1, makes you resistant to fire damage, and has the Fire Bolt Cantrip and Fireball spell. Great for fire builds.|
|Mourning Frost||(Act 1) In the Underdark, Icy Helve is dropped by Dhourn, near Selunite Outpost. Icy Metal is on a corpse in the Myconid Colony. Icy Crystal is dropped by Filro the Forgotten near the Sussur Tree. Combine all three parts to form the Mourning Frost.||Heart of Ice makes you deal more cold damage when using cold attacks, and Insidious Cold can make your cold damage inflict the chilled condition. You can also use the Ray of Frost Cantrip. Great for cold builds.|
|Woe||Defeat Cazador Szarr during Astarion’s companion quest, “The Pale Elf”.||Saps health off of enemies whenever they fail Saving Throws against your spells. You also get Blight, a high damaging necrotic spell. Woe is also bound, which means it’ll find its way back to you if you lose it in any way.|
|Staff of Cherish Necromancy||(Act 3) Dropped by Mystic Carrion inside Philgrave’s Mansion in the Lower City.||Enemies have disadvantage on their Saving Throws against your necromancy spells. Whenever you land a killing blow, the staff grants you Life Essence, which makes your next necromancy spell free.|
