You might not realize it, but Oath of Peak is kind of a big deal.

Developed by CANGMING NET and published by Yeeha Games, Oath of Peak is an oriental fantasy RPG based on a classic Chinese text called The Classic of Mountains and Seas (though you may know it by the name Shan Hai Jing).

CANGMING NET has made a name for itself creating a series of acclaimed Xianxia games – a popular genre in China and the Far East. The studio previously scored a smash hit with A Chinese Ghost Story Mobile Game, which racked up 18 million downloads worldwide.

Oath of Peak, meanwhile, has already attracted more than 500k players signing up for pre-registration in North America, reaching the top spot on both the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store. 200k took part in the open beta as well.

Gameplay-wise, Oath of Peak is an open world adventure that sees you navigating a vast map and capturing mythical creatures.

You’re playing as a Spirit Bender, befriending Spirit Beasts on a fantasy continent called, appropriately enough, Omnispirit Continent.

These oriental beasts come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and those familiar with Chinese mythology will recognize Qilin, Zhulong, Baize, Qiongqi, and other fantastical animals featured in The Classic of Mountains and Seas.

While you’re not making friends with weird and wonderful creatures you can take part in PvP battles, engage with multiple GvG modes, and enjoy a range of casual activities such as fishing and raising Kun (a type of creature found in the Shan Hai Jing).

Classes and Modes

There are five powerful classes to pick from in Oath of Peak – Alkaid, Megrez, Dubhe, Phecd, and Alioth – and each one comes with its own unique talents.

Alkaid is a reliable warrior-style teammate who can charge and soak up damage like a pro. Not only that, but Alkaid can even return fire with a double-strength backlash, making them a formidable opponent.

Dubhe is a fast-moving assassin character with a high attack speed but a limited capacity for punishment. That makes Dubhe a little tricker to use than Alkaid – but once you’ve mastered them you’ll find yourself in possession of an indispensable weapon.

Megrez is a mage-style character who uses mystical powers to overwhelm enemies, including a hallucination spell that tricks victims into making fatal errors.

Phecd is a healer, making them totally invaluable on the battlefield. The best place for Phecd is at the back of the pack, where they can support the front line with long-distance fire support and healing buffs.

Finally, Alioth is a support character who can inflict huge amounts of damage from a distance. Unusually for a support hero, Alioth is surprisingly mobile, making them a formidable fighter.

You can plunge these heroes into a variety of different battle types, including PvP, GvG, and more. Oath of Peak is a hugely ambitious, graphically stunning MMORPG that boasts an epic single-player campaign, a host of multiplayer modes, and much more.
