Monster Hunter Rise can be played solo with little to no trouble, but enjoying the experience with friends takes it to a whole new level. While the new entry in the series doesn’t feature a local split-screen co-op option, due to the Nintendo Switch system limitations, it still provides plenty of options to enjoy the game together with friends all over the world.
Here’s how to play Monster Hunter Rise together with your friends.
How To Play Monster Hunter Rise Together With Your Friends
Monster Hunter Rise can be played online with friends, but you will need an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription on your account to do so. Without it, the online multiplayer options will not be available in any form.
Before you are able to play the game together with your friends, you will have to make some progress in the game. Complete the tutorial and the following early missions until you can access the Senri the Mailman Palico’s services. By speaking with this special Palico, you will be able to play online and create a Lobby. By creating a Lobby, you will be able to invite your friends into your party to set out on all sorts of hunts together. To invite friends, you need to access the friend list and select the friends you want to invite.
In Monster Hunter Rise, you also get the chance of joining a lobby that has been created by one of your friends. If they have created an active lobby, you will know straight away when looking at the friend list. If you want to join a lobby created by someone who is not on your friend list, you will need to input the Lobby ID code.
More focused co-op in Monster Hunter Rise is also available via Co-Op Quests. To play these quests, head over to Minoto in the hub area, choose the quest you want to play, and wait for all your friends to accept the quest.
As we mentioned earlier, local split-screen co-op is not available in Monster Hunter Rise, but it is still possible to play local multiplayer with multiple consoles. Just speak with Senri the Mailman and pick the Play Locally option. This option doesn’t require an active Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
