Zero City: Arena Guide to Keep on Winning (Massacre Guide)

The Arena in Zero City: Zombie Shelter Survival is where the real challenge is at! Competing against other players for supremacy and top rewards, you definitely want to always rank high when taking part in the Arena aka Massacre challenges.

And we’re here to help you by sharing today’s guide to the Zero City Arena / Massacre so that you win all your fights and grab all those cool rewards. So let’s get this started!

Zero City Arena: Food or Tickets?

When you tap the Arena button on the map and go the Massacre screen in the game, you have two participation options: for food or for tickets. But which one should you choose?

It all depends on what you want to achieve. Generally, the Tickets Massacres hold the better rewards, but they’re usually where the biggest competition is at. You also need Arena tickets in order to take part (more about this later)

The rewards here are impressive for ranking in the top 3: between 150 – 250 Arena Store credits, 1 crate and the chance to win the Grand Prize, the Greatest Arena crate. You also get a bonus of 60 credits for fighting all battles:

The Food Massacre can be played if you spend regular food, but the rewards are also lower. However, it’s easier to rank higher here since you will be generally matched against similar or weaker opponents.

The rewards for ranking in the top 3 are not as impressive as the ticket arena, as you can only earn between 60 – 100 Arena Store credits for placing in the top 3, but you can also win an arena ticket for ranking first, which is really useful. However, you don’t get a shot at the Greatest Arena crate (but still get a regular one):

Pro tip: You can still get a lot from the Food Arena Massacres as well, if you have a ton of food standing by. Even if you don’t, ask your alliance for food: most people usually have a surplus of it and send it gladly. Put it to good use in the Arena!

The Zero City: Zombie Shelter Survival Arena Store

With the credits that you earn from the Arena battles, you can visit the store where you can purchase some extremely important items or even crates. You need a ton of credits for a crate (or for the items themselves), but the more active you are in the Arena, the faster you’ll get those rewards.

Zero City Massacre: How to get Arena tickets

In order to get more Arena tickets, you have to be very patient, generally. If you are not, you can purchase them at any given time for 19 Premium currency each.

However, if you are patient, you can get Arena tickets from clearing the crowds of zombies whenever they appear on the map (you get random numbers of tickets from that, but don’t expect too many).

You can also get 1 Arena ticket for each Food Massacre that you rank 1st in, as well as for completing the Movie Theater daily mission (it involves watching ads).

Zero City Arena: Tips for Winning

Setting up the perfect team is vital to max out your chances of ranking 1st in each Massacre you take place in. We have discussed this in detail here, sharing the perfect team setup based on the number of fighters you can send to battle.

However, there is an extra layer of strategy here since you get more points for winning battles against higher ranked players and fewer for beating those behind you.

Therefore, you should plan out your attacks so that you always get the maximum number of points each time. Here is how I approach things:

If I am sure that I can easily win all five battles, I always look out to fighting first against a higher ranked opponent, then look into beating higher ranked ones if available. There’s really not much strategizing involved here than to always attack the higher ranked one if available.

If I’m not certain about the outcome of some of the other battles, some strategizing comes into play. If it’s just one battle I am unsure of, I usually start with that: if I lose it, I will get extra points from future battles as my rank will be lower. If not, I will be on a winning streak anyway.

If there are more battles I am unsure of, I always play them first – the impossible ones first, then the one I am uncertain of.

The main point here is to know that you have 5 battles. Decide how many are obvious wins and fight first the ones that are not, in order to increase the points gained and rank higher. This is the way to do it!

Zero City: Arena Guide to Keep on Winning (Massacre Guide)

  1. I really want to know how to beat the city boss. I’ve been stuck for 6 days and no matter what I just CAN’T beat him. When attacking I always see “absorbed” pop up. It costs me 13000 food units each time and it’s really frustrating. Any tips?
(And yes, I have upgraded my unit. They’re all level 30)

    • Use chemical weapons and equip it to your infantry. That way infantry can damage him and the rangers will kill him. The point here is not letting him get close to ur rangers otherwise, he’ll just absorb everything.

  2. My question is how are the matchups determined? I always seem to find myself at the bottom of the list as far as power. Even when I increase my power Im then thrown in an arena with people who are much higher than me. No matter what I do this keeps happening. I was 130k yesterday and competed against people 160k-200k then I got to 160k today and Im playing against people with 330,000 power. Does anyone know whats going on with this?

  3. Yea same happens to me. How does the matchmaking process work? I’ve heard it’s got to do with your gym and barracks level. Is this true?

  4. if the barracks have 4 fighters and the max level is 40, the barracks train the following – 40, 40, 40, 39, then you will not be rebuked at the next level of the league.

  5. Yeh . A tip from me: level your legends to the max first. And equip them with the best loot (purple) you will win a ton then.
If you lvl up your HQ you will fight other enemys who’d leveld en maxed out their legends. (Equipment and level).

  6. same happens to me, I have won some massacres so know that the algorithm used to select who fights whom can work. But over the 35+ areana fights I have had I have only placed top 3 five times, the other 30+ fights I have been the lowest or next to lowest. It does not matter if I have 3, 4 or 5 fighters. Hell most of the time at least 5 teams are double my score. How are you supposed to win against that kind of pairing? I have beaten teams with scores higher than mine, just like I have lost to teams with scores lower than mine.
I understand that part, I just want something close to a fair fight. When I am close to 200K, most of my opponents were 300K or higher. I am now at 303K and I see 389K to 450K. Again a close fight against someone higher than me I can pull off a victory occasionally. BUT against someone who is close to 100K higher, sorry can’t do.

    • The most likely reason for this annoyance (which drives me crazy as well) is the fact that probably there are not enough people online at the moment of starting the battle to offer a fair fight. It’s really strange that in most cases, I am the one that’s overpowered and I have never been the strongest in a massacre… and this is indeed annoying.

  7. Arena is a waste of time. Once you get past a certain point you’re matched with players that are always massively higher-ranked than you are. As a result, you find fewer players resulting in longer wait times to be matched. And I don’t mean 2-3 minutes; I waited for a full 30 minutes for a lobby to fill one time before I gave up. And when I started the game about 2 months ago there were 15 competitors in Arena lobbies but that’s down to 10 now. Some of the hints given here do not work; there is no difference in skill between ticket and food competitors, for example. Maybe if we were allowed to use our power-ups like the Tunnels and Rail challenges, it might be a bit more fair.
I only pay attention to the lobby for 2 things: the free chips (which add up to more than you’re likely to get from playing), which can be used to buy half-decent gear, and to complete the Slaughter Seeker and Jack of All Trades daily challenges (if I ever get around to tying in with Alliances, i won’t need to bother with Slaughter Seeker at all). I just pick any enemy (they’re all too powerful for me to beat anyway so it’s random), let them beat me, and move on to the next. Only problem is you need to do it 7 times and there are 5 to a round, so you have to start a second round. Once I get my 7, I just bail and don’t bother with the rest of the second round. The one good thing is you’re not penalized for losing so it doesn’t really matter (and you get a small chips reward just for showing up). Overall I like Zero City and I’m willing to put up with room upgrades that take a week to finish and characters taking a day to move up a couple of skill levels, but the Arena is just a waste of code other than providing some grinding opportunity for free chips and daily accomplishment fulfillment.

  8. Search for Arena brackets everyone. You need to manage your fighters levels to correspond with each bracket. Everytime you level up your gym and start training, you will soon Be matched against strionger enemies, who had a lot of time to grind gear for their level…
