You will see that making money in this game is not as difficult as you first think it is and pretty soon you will turn your city into a real money making machine. You just have to get past the first few moments when things are indeed difficult.

But enough for the intro, let’s get straight to business and let’s see how to make more Simoleons in SimCity Build It!

1. Build residences & Upgrade them

This is the main way to make a lot of coins in the game, both directly and indirectly. We’ll focus on the “directly” part – which means that every time you build a new residence or upgrade it, you receive a nice sum of Simoleons. Extremely useful early on when you can build a lot of structures for cheap!

2. Collect from the City Hall

As soon as you hit level 5 in the game, you can build the City Hall which allows you to collect tax from your Sim citizens. The amount of money that you collect is influenced by the happiness of your population, so it makes a lot of sense to do your best to keep your Sims happy by building parks and other similar things, as well as services that cover all the residential areas. This is the indirect way residences make money and in the long run, this will become your main money source!

3. Look out for deals

When you are logged in to the game, you will notice coin symbols appearing above some of your buildings (like parks, water buildings and so on). Tap the coin symbol and you will be offered a deal: give away some of your materials and instantly receive a sum of coins. My suggestion is to never be picky and always sell the items if you have them. And make sure you always have a lot of them, because if you refuse the deal, it will be gone forever.

4. Sell materials to other players

This doesn’t really work well for me, but it’s worth trying and there are some coins to be made either way: as soon as you hit 8,000 population, you can start selling your items there. Set the price and hope somebody with more Simoleons than you will take a deal. Also have in mind that the rarer the materials, the more money you can get for them, while the Storage upgrade materials are considered premium and can be sold for nice sums of money!

5. Plan your city’s design carefully

The better your city is set up, the happier your people will be, the more upgrades you will be able to get and the more money you will make. So always look at your city, check out the good areas and not so good ones and decide what are the best ways to upgrade everything. Always know that you can do better and look for ways to make it happen. This way, you will build a truly profitable city!

  1. I been playing the game for years since the original version this is a good start and is easy to play so far. This is what I recommend thus keep your sims happy peaceful park gives you more happiness for you buck so try to use the around your buildings try not to go into level 14 until you have plenty of education coverage and extra at level 13 is easier to make the shipments so you can get keys easier. In level 14 it takes more work so take advantage of this level get plenty of peaceful parks around your buildings and plenty of extra from education when you have plenty of extra from each then get also transportation and the go ahead into the next level. Building homes is what takes you to the next levels

  2. Number four actually is quite useful. When you sell stuff on the Trade Depot, none of the players usually buy them, but the game (Daniel’s city) does. It takes a bit of patience though, since it needs a few days of the items not sold before this happens (much like FV country story). I usually select the highest price and days later, you have multiple items (worth at most 800 simoleons each) automatically sold. P.S. You forgot to mention #4 is about the Trade Depot.

  3. 1. Free residencies are not free. They require fire police Park etc. Make sure u have all setup before placing any residencies.
2.residencies make u level up. And when u level up there are more requirements (ie healthcare). Save money early.
3.always produce. Make ur city an exporter. Sell on the open market by advertising your goods. U can advertise 1 item every 5 min. This is the only way to sell ur items. They must be advertised.
4.sell chairs. To do this constantly be making wood and metal in factories. Then constantly making hammers and nails. Then constantly making chairs. Sell chairs for 300 each on market. This will make you 900 simoleans an hour.
5.use cash to increase slots for productions. So you can leave device alone for longer periods of time.

  4. You don’t have to wait days to sell things in the depot. They usually sell in minutes Id you advertise. Also it doesn’t matter how indemand an item is because the game gives you a range you can sell of for and most people pick the highest all the time.

also, you dong have to accept or decline the deals. Kist click somewhere else on the screen and it doesn’t go away.

    • try bulldozing your entire city and building it out again from scratch, because you can just provide for 52 or so people at a time. Also try to not deny the deals, unless they are premium items.

  5. I seriously need help, I have the city hall and everything but I cannot collect taxes, and never have the option too. Everything else is working perfectly. :)

  6. I thought i could find something useful on making coin but this is crap. You told me nothing i didn’t knew. I’m at level 13 and the best way making coins so far seems to be trading stuff on highest price and advertising them to sell within seconds. To do that first you need to expand your storage by bying parts on the trading market (mine so far is 110) after that build all factories possible to produce allot of stuff to convert them to supplies store. The aim is to put on trade the priciest things unlocked to you (mine so far are chairs and vegetables) but you can put whatever you want cause you ll have so many and need to make space for others that are producing. Note that you have to use cash money to open at least five slots for each supply store in order to be productive all the time. And never accept the offers that comes to you cause they are cheap most of the time, you should always sell your own stuff on highest price.
The other way that I’m trying now is by starting to build new homes and trying to upgrade at some point just to get as much coins as i can from them and after that destroying them couse they will need police stations, transportations, educations.. and stuff like that which costs so much money that I don’t have.
And dont forget to always use the cargo ship cause you will get some coins from that and most important the keys which you will use later on game.

  7. My best method of making money is to build a residence, collect the money and immediately bulldoze it. I make all the materials needed to build it or either only purchase items from the trade depot that cost less than what profit I make from building the house. I do this over and over and make around 5k per hour.

  8. Im currently at 860,000 population, 100% happiness, 900,000+ coins. What Ive learnt so far:
    1. Parks are only needed to achieve 100% happiness/ population boost. Without parks, happiness level will only drop to 95-97%. You will still get d full amount from your taxes. So if you cant really afford it, save ur coins for more important stuff.
    2. Only build a manageable amount of residences, maybe 3 at a time. Its fun to see the coins piling up, but pretty soon you’ ll level up too quickly and end up needing many new services. Too many residences will require more service coverage, it will be overwhelming. So before you reach a certain level, check to see what it unlocks. If you dont have enough coins, stop upgrading residences n gather up coins through other means.
    3. The medical centre n large fire station are the best value for money, so try to hv that eventually. They r also space efficient.
    4. Business deals from neighbouring cities arent always bad. Some offer prices higher than what u can get in d trade depot. I’ve sold burgers for 44,000 coins n ice cream sandwich for 29,000 coins (each costs roughly 36,000 and 21,000 coins respectively). But you can reject the deals if they mess up ur item production/ real life schedule:). Simply sell what you have in stock.
    5. Even though all items will EVENTUALLY sell, not all items are desirable/ in high demand. Some sell very quickly, while some will take hours or even days. Through my observation, these products will sell relatively quickly >>>
    i. Nails n other furniture tht requires nails. Other products from building supplies store are ok as well.
ii. Any of the products from the hardware store except drills.
iii. Vegetables, flour bags, cream and cheese. Fruits n berries too.
iv. Tree saplings and garden furniture.
    V. Caps or wristwatch.
vi. All from the donut shop, except the donuts…. (too many donuts on d market)
vii. Ice cream sandwich n pizza.
    6. Stop spending on coins on every upgrade/expansion items. You will be able to collect them for free. But if you only need like one more item to upgrade/expand, id say go for it. Or if you see one selling at default price, buy n resell or just keep it for urself. Otherwise, expand at your own pace.
    7. Adjust your item production to fit your schedule so tht you can spend less time on the game yet still be efficient (n rich). Your health n personal life is more important.

  9. If I’m wanting to make money I just make and sell wood. A stack of 10 at highest price is 200. Since factories make everything at once it’s every 3 minutes having a stack or 2 mattering about your amount of factories. I do this if I’m actively playing. Get thousands of simoleons in an hour. Most I got was 15k in 1 hour. Otherwise if I’m not actively playing then I make something that matches my activness. If I’m watching TV then minerals and if maybe I can keep an eye on the game I will make plastic. It buys really easy if advertised. Keep my trading Post full of whatever and wait with extra in storage

  10. Don’t always take the deals. I checked several times, and sometimes you’ll make more selling them in the trade center than if you accept deals.

  11. If you tap outside of the deal bubble you will then be able to save the deal until you get the materials, therefore even if you don’t have the materials right then you can still get them.

  12. Charlene you’re absolutely right I just made a chart to keep track of what things so for on the global market and it turns out that people get ripped off in those deals sometime. But if you see Madeline going for higher than 50 simoleons or 10 per metal you’re selling, go ahead and take the deal because you will not get as much in the global trade center.

  13. To get free stuff, all you have to do is go to another players city. If you look around, sometimes there will be a blue thought bubble with a gift box in it. It is really small. It is not always there. But it gives you free stuff. I get all my free stuff from those then I sell them and make simoleons.
