Paper.io Cheats: Tips & Strategy Guide

The .io series of games continues with Paper.io! Paper.io plays a lot like the other io games you know and love, but this time the goal is to cover as much of the board as you can by making colored boxes. Typical .io rules apply: there’s competition on the board and they’re out to get you, so you got to take them out in order to be the best!

We’ve got some tips and tricks for you to become the ultimate paper box in our Paper.io cheats, tips and tricks strategy guide!

1. Play it safe!

From the time we’ve spent in Paper.io, one thing has been made clear: the computer opponents are like vultures and they WILL attempt to break your trail if they see a chance. You’ll probably notice this yourself – if you’re starting a base near another computer, try to stick yourself out a bit and make a trail. 90% of the time the computer will drop whatever they’re doing and head straight for your trail until you’ve made a safe zone. Because of this we recommend playing it as safe as possible. You never know when a new computer is going to drop in and ruin everything you’ve worked for! Slowly capture small parts of the board and don’t overextend too much. Remember, the longer you go out from your base the more vulnerable you become!

2. Take ’em out!

On the flip side, you can actually take advantage of the computer’s ravenous AI. If you see a computer opponent nearby and you want to take them out, you can try luring them out of their base by using yourself as bait. Only peek out enough to get them close to you, then make a box. As soon as you have no trail, the computer will immediately dart back around, leaving their trail exposed. Take them out when you see the chance!

3. Play defensively!

On top of the above tips, you can also just sit in your base and wait for your opponent to make a move. The easiest way to take an enemy out is to wait for them to foolishly slither into your base, then go in for the kill. You don’t even have to risk peeking out of your base if you wish; keep waiting inside your base and the enemy will eventually try to infiltrate you. Since they have no protection, you can take them out really fast.

4. Watch out for the spawn points!

We’ve noticed that the spawn points in this game are very haphazard. Sometimes new enemies will spawn right next to your base, and sometimes they’ll spawn right in front of you. Always be alert when you’re trying to claim new space, as you never know when the game might pull a fast one on you!

5. Score high for more coins!

The higher your final score is, the more coins you’ll earn. The way it works is that your coverage percentage is multiplied by 8. Your total amount of enemy kills is multiplied by 30. That cumulative result is then finally multiplied by any super bonuses you achieved (you get these by covering a certain amount of the board). If you’re aiming to make a lot of coins, you should try to take out as many enemies as possible. As a point of reference, destroying 10 enemies will net you 300 coins! Covering as much area as possible helps too.
