To rebuild Rome, you will need to restore important buildings that made the community thrive, and you do that by playing through match-3 puzzle levels! In our Jewels of Rome tips and tricks guide, we will go over how to get through the match-3 levels with relative ease, and how to build your city up faster. Let’s get started with our Jewels of Rome cheats, tips and tricks strategy guide to rebuilding Rome!

Create the special pieces!

Just like any other match-3 puzzle game, Jewels of Rome features special pieces that are materialized upon matching more than three pieces at a time. Here is a list of them and what they do!

  • Matching four objects creates a power piece that explodes in a straight row or column. The direction the explosion will move in is indicated by the direction of the three white lines on the power piece.
  • Matching five objects creates a rainbow jewel that can be used to clear the entire board of a single type of piece. For example, if you move the rainbow jewel onto a purple piece, all purples on the board will be matched!
  • Matching five objects in a “L” or “T” shape will result in a bomb piece. This piece when activated will detonate and match all adjacent pieces around it. Use this piece to clear out clusters!

Conserve moves and use the special pieces!

You can beat most of the early levels by just simply matching whatever you see available at the moment, but when you get to the later levels you will need to start planning. Do not just match wildly – plan out your moves and make each one count. Try to match pieces in a way that will make it easier for you to create the special pieces.

Using the special pieces to your advantage is the key to clearing a level with a few amount of moves. Also, when you clear a level with leftover moves, all of your moves are turned into bonus points!

Use Tools to get the job done!

If you do not think you are going to make the level goal within the remaining moves, do not hesitate to use your Tools if you are very close. Tools are power ups that can save the day when you are in a bind. Here is all of them in the game!

  • The Hammer is your basic beginning tool, and they allow you to immediately match any object on the board of your choosing. If you need just one more object or you need to get rid of a little bit of sand, the Hammer is a great choice.
  • A pair of Sandals adds more moves to your move pool. If you are very close to victory, you can use Sandals to get a few more moves to close out the level.
  • The Firepot acts like a bomb, and detonates in a 3×3 square around a piece of your choosing. These are basically stronger Hammers, so use them if you do not care about where the surrounding pieces will end up.
  • The Chariot acts like the super piece that blast the entire row. If you need to shift the board downward or get rid of a bunch of pieces in a row, use a Chariot!
  • The Whirlwind is basically a reset button. Using one of these will shuffle the entire board, which is good for when you get stuck in a really bad placement.
  • The Step Barrel adds additional turns to all Step Bombs on the board. This is good if you need to buy yourself some more time before getting the bombs into place.
  • The Gecko Catch is a failsafe that catches any Geckos that have managed to cross the entire field.

Follow your journal!

Your current quest to restore Ancient Rome is tracked by your journal. Here, you can read about all of the happenings and occurrences of the settlement and what needs to be taken care of next. You can also tap on the quest markers at the top left corner of the screen.

The progress of your city restoration project is done solely by advancing through the quests, so make sure that you follow your journal and always be working towards the next quest. They usually involve some form of relic collecting, which we will explain now!

Complete the Collections and Rarities for big rewards!

As you learned in the tutorial, you will find special objects when you are exploring certain buildings. These collectibles are a part of some kind of collection, and completing the entire set will award you with a “rarity”. You also get a nice bonus of energy, gold, and materials.

If you want to, you can complete a set multiple times for more rewards, but you should also move onto rarities. Rarities are valuable objects just like the regular collectibles, and they too can be fused into one greater object.

Completing a rarity takes a while, but it is often worth it, as you will be rewarded with a heap of coins plus an energy-restoring resource. You can stockpile a bunch of energy if you complete as many rarities as you can.

Another thing to note is that each combination, whether it is a regular collectible or a rarity, requires side components, like the Bountiful Basket or the Ruby Necklace. You can create these on certain levels by matching specific pieces.

There is another way to get more of these, but this requires to have friends added into your game. When you are in the collections screen, you can tap on any of the components to add it to your wish list. Anyone on your friends list can help you out with the components from there!

Collect your statue award bonuses!

You have probably unlocked one of these already, but there are various statues dedicated to various Roman Gods that are erected in your city after certain conditions are met. Each of these statues gives you free rewards that can be collected every few hours.

Apollo’s statue requires you to combine regular collectibles, and his statue will reward you with coins, experience, and a random collectible component.

Jupiter’s statue requires you to complete quests for journal progress, and his statue rewards you with coins, experience, and energy.

Minerva’s statue requires you to solve challenges in a row, and her statue rewards you with coins, experience, and energy.

Juno’s statue requires you to use tools a certain number of times during the levels, and her statue rewards you with coins, experience, and a Hammer tool.

Mercury’s statue requires you to add friends to your friend list, and his statue rewards you with coins, experience, and energy.

Each one of these statues can be upgraded by fulfilling their quests multiple times, which improves the rewards. The quests become harder and harder every time you finish them, though! Remember to come back and collect your rewards at least once a day.

Jewels of Rome Cheats: Tips & Tricks Guide To Rebuilding Rome

    • Hi Mary B the Chinese part sounds like it must be an event – what level did you get to open that event? I have only just done the Gates of Pluto and didn’t get to finish it. I guess like the others that I played, the toads end up in your inventory.

  1. I have had several tries at playing Forum IV – Artist. As soon as I have played the two flashing diamonds it tells me the game is up. Is anyone else having this trouble and how can I finish the game – I want the medical item?

    • I’ve had issues with the game too – especially in the fire station when it just freezes halfway through playing and the game switches off and takes my energy with it. Sucks! Freezing and closing down happens occasionally in other levels and also happens in another G% game I play – hidden City – but it’s worse in Jewels of Rome. Support tries to help but I just couldn’t be bothered after weeks of trying so don’t play in the fire station unless I’m feeling brave. managed to get through the freezing level by not activating any bombs or colour blasts…..

  2. I am stuck on a puzzle that has 4 squares & a vertical line of tiles in the middle. I have cleared all the vases but the diamonds are still chained. The puzzle just sits there, so apparently I’m not done. The diamonds are chained. I have been unable to make them break the usual way (3 tiles or 4 in a row with the whte stripes on them right beside the diamond). How do you unchain them please?
Thanks for this article. Lord knows you’re not foing to get any help from the game. The tips are up for a few seconds then gone, & if there is a help function, I sure can’t find it.

    • you have to play the current game, just above the gazebo to earn keys to unlock the gifts inside the gazebo. That game changes from time to time and sometime the game and the gazebo are gone. BUT you earn points to play the game above the gazebo by playing other games. The points column at the top, on the right displays the points available to play regular games, the number on the left displays points available to play the gazebo unlocking game. When you have earned keys, you click on the gazebo and it opens up and you unlock the prizes. It can only hold 50 treasure chests or baskets

  3. I keep having a kitten fall into one of the side blocks and can’t figure out how to get them out. They can’t every move sideways to match a block as they are isolated. I keep making matched vertically next to them but they don’t drop down

    • Go to the “Friends” icon on the bottom right of the main screen. Click on the “Friends” button, 2nd from left on bottom of the next screen. Find the friend you want to visit and click the “Visit” button under their avatar. This will take you to your friend’s “game” where you can click 5 of the locations or statues. IMNSHO although clicking the statues only adds more coins, unless you know which locations your friend is playing, clicking on locations is a shot in the dark.

    • Each level requires more. I would guess about the number of different game boards for that building times the level. Going from 6 to 7 is tedious. It is possible to get to level 8 on non-temporary buildings.
Temporary buildings seem to stop at level 6.

  4. I have been rebuilding Rome for months and months. In the process, I have spent a lot of cash. I have earned Talismans that are supposed to strengthen my ability. I’m finding the the only way I can win is if I buy coins and then the games allows me to win for awhile even if I don’t use up my money. I’m losing my interet. Is there anything I can do to excel further without spending a fortune?

    • The game is designed to take your cash. Raising a building level takes more and more plays with each level.
Going from level 6 to 7 can take months. The monthly “update” is to keep you interested with easy buildings.

    • If you hover over them there are very brief instructions. Basically they help you complete screens where you are having difficulties.

Ex: Hammer – If you have reached the point where you have only one more move and you have a sand patch left what can’t be cleared by forming a triplet you can use the hammer to remove the sand patch and thus, complete the screen.

  5. Is there a guide to items and chips value somewhere? Just guessing, but I suppose that you gain more ressources, when waiting to solve the puzzle in the last move/draw?! It would be an advantage to know which chips earns the most ressources.

  6. If you don’t use all the keys that open the gazebo presents at the end of the quest, do you lose them or are they stored in inventory and carried over to the next special gazebo quest?

    • Depends how far through the game you are – you need coins to unlock new locations as they become available at various levels – you can also buy a talisman and step barrels and whirlwinds in the store with the coins you earn

  7. How do I remove chains around items, match 3 next to them is not working although a 4 in a row bomb blast opposite to one does. Is there another method which takes some skill not just luck.

  8. How do the catapults work, the ones with a color piece attached to them. I see they need a certain number of hits, but when I break jewels that color, the number doesn’t go down.

  9. I want to play the game that was advertised….Akeem was saving the girl and had to go thru a series of obstables by pulling the right pin (or key?)….how do I get there?

  10. I’m in the silvermine, level Artist, the game where I collect 20 feathers and clear all the sand. Is there anyway I can force the feathers to fall, or will I just have to buy lives and keep using them till enough feathers have fallen?

  11. I can’t seem to get the last 2 items (coin & shoes) I need when fighting spooky spirit & night spirit. I have multiples of the other items but can’t get these to complete the collection. I asked G5 with no real reply. Is there a trick to this? I’ve been trying for months

  12. I have a question regarding trade contracts. It seems difficult do have a trade contract on at the same time as doing journal quests (in an attempt to multitask) because the pieces available on fields seem to change and the area you’re doing for the quest may not even have the elements you need for the trade. Is there a scheme, map, list of the each element./token used for trade across areas?
