Design Home Game Cheats Tips & Strategy to Keep Winning

Design Home is a new game for Android and iPhone that puts you in the shoes of a wannabe room designer and other players are your judges. The game challenges you to design rooms based on specific instructions.

Things won’t be as easy as they might seem since limited funds and certain restrictions will be in place, but the overall experience will be great. I love this game and apparently everybody else does!

So I decided to come and share with you some Design Home cheats and tips to help you win the challenges.

Let’s not waste a single second now! If you have installed the Design Home: House Renovation game from Crowdstar and you can’t win your challenges or you’re already out of money, read on tips and cheats and you’ll improve your game!

1. Don’t waste money early on

When you start playing the game, it seems that you don’t have any items to play with. Although that is mostly true, you should learn to make the most out of what you have.

Instead of wasting money on the best looking items, keep an eye on the prices and buy the cheapest available. You will see that otherwise you will run out of money really fast.

2. Pay attention to the theme

Each design challenge has to follow a theme: make sure that you know what that theme is and try to design accordingly.

For example, if you have to design a minimalist & modern place, don’t bring redneck stuff and heavy leather items.

Just follow the theme and you will do just great! And don’t forget that sometimes less is more: you don’t have to fill the room with decorations and stuff every time you create a design!

3. Copy what others are doing

You will be voting a lot in the Design Home game by Crowdstar, so keep an eye on the ratings. See which designs get the better ratings and try to learn why were they considered better than the others.

You will soon see that people like complementing colors and items that go well one with another – so if you don’t have the items required, it might be better to simply skip the design completely instead of filling it with items that don’t belong.

You can also check out the top rated designers and rooms in the game for inspiration.

These are usually designs that are filled with premium items and rare ones that you might not have access too, but check them either way just to learn a bit about what gets voted highly!

4. Never stop voting

Pretty soon, you will most likely run out of money and you’ll have nothing else left to do but to wait for the results of the rooms you have designed. In the mean time, vote as much as possible.

You get 3 keys for every 5 votes you cast and you usually need 25 keys to submit a single design… so keep voting! This also helps the game and keeps everything interesting.

And make sure you spend time to actually choose the design that looks best for you: tapping randomly on a room will only destroy this game!

5. Be patient and take your time

It’s not easy to earn money in the game (but it’s easy to buy stuff if you want to), so log in daily to pick up your rewards, invest in nice items knowing that you won’t be able to have them all and be patient.

If you take a break from designing for a few days, you will have enough items and diamonds to build amazing designs that people will love.

Design Home Game Cheats Tips & Strategy to Keep Winning

  1. I love playing this game, but I can’t figure out why things I buy disappear and I have to debug them. Like the gold holiday wreath, I’ve used it many tomes, yet just had to rent it. Do we only get to use an item so many times and then it’s gone from our inventory?

  2. Yes. You only get so many in your inventory before you have to buy them again. There’s a little blue box in the upper right corner of the item to show you how many you have.

    • Things cost $ and diamonds. If something cost $ you can use diamonds to fill in the extra cost but you can’t use $ to buy diamond items. At least from what I’ve noticed. Hope that helps.

      • I’m having the same issue. I have plenty of money but as soon as I add a third item another on disappears. I’ve checked and I’m not adding anything that is priced in diamonds. It’s driving me crazy!

        • You can only preview 3 items at a time. If you have two items that have not been purchased and try to add a third one, the previous item you selected will disappear.

    • I would like to know this as well. I also do not understand why a simiar item might cost dollars and the other item cost diamonds. I wish items only cost $. Diamonds could still be used to fullfill missing cash and to purchase keys and whatnot.

    • No you can not refund an item once purchased by either cash or diamonds, however you can double click it and it will take it out of the inconplete room and put it back into your inventory.

  3. Does anyone know if voting by others is the only factor in the way scores are given? Winning designs are sometimes not the best and do not honor the theme of the challenge!

    • I agree. I didn’t use a rug on the design because the description said she liked the sun on the wood floor. Lowest score I’ve had. A lot of the themes are not being honored.

    • I agree too. And sometimes the winners are just plain ludicrous. For example, a designer may create a room that looks good for the theme but the Moscow poster would not be on display in a house in Cuba for example. Or better yet, American cities posters in a house in Russia (or most other countries unless they are ex-Pats and even then their neighbors would probably shun them).

I like the design concept but I’m getting more and more frustrated by the game and the results. I did spend a lot of money in the beginning and it was then that I received my highest marks.

    • Once someone put a Moscow poster in a Turkish living room. I guess folks don’t know history. I agree, it is very frustrating when the designs that do well are not at all related to the challege; ie a modern couch and chair in a renaissance design. Arrrrg! Most of the winning designs tend to be monochromatic.. with a preference for black and white. I have gotten a high score on a room I didn’t put a lot of thought into; and the ones I do get 3.something. don’t mean to toot my own horn…but I’m an artist and i understand colours. That’s my rant..and I’m sticking to it. ; )

      • Have you ever thought that people are travelling around the world and they buy some souvenirs just to remember them? And it’s pretty stupid to hang a poster of your own town!

          • LOL what’s so strange about a Moscow poster in a Turkish living room? Do you actually know who’s supporting this new presidente? RUSSIA!
I guess you don’t know what’s happening right know ;)

          • like it…is just a game guys…what are we 3…like the rooms need to be fairly challenged but your going tooooo deep to say stuff like that

        • I agree with Denica. City posters can be purchased by people who enjoyed that city during their travels. Also, voters tend to punish rooms that don’t have wall art. If the city posters go best with the overall look of the room, I’ll use them. I also don’t think it’s lame to post a picture of your own city on your wall. I would hang a poster of my city on my wall, especially if it is 40+ years old.

          • I sometimes vote for a room with no wall art before I’ll vote for one with tacky wall art. For instance, sometimes a designer will have 2 pictures side by side that are different sizes and don’t even go together just for the sake of filling a space. Also, it makes no difference to me what city a picture represents as long as the design is cohesive.

          • I Agree if it looks good and makes room pretty Use it It’s just a game we can’t always afford the whole theme design just vote and be kind to those who try or are at lower levels than we are many are above my level but I cheer them on or vote for someone who tries with what they have to offer it’s a game Enjoy Diversity and new ways to spruce up a room Much Love Good Luck Happy Designing I Am Stuck Now not able to enter challenges for whatever reason but can vote get to every other aspect Within my game hmmm trying to get help still winning some prizes for challenges I Submitted So feeling lil sad this won’t load but happy for those who can

      • Glad someone else sees these things too! I mean, I don’t WANT to design all black and white stuff! And yes, sometimes winners do not fit the theme. Some winners of a child’s room décor is clearly feminine and the child is supposed to be MALE!! Good to know that I’m not the only one who doesn’t agree with many of the “winning designs!” Just knowing that helps!!!

        • I’ve been getting aggravated over the same thing. Part of the challenge is in the background story, people aren’t paying attention to that at all !!
Lately I’ve noticed my scores have been higher than a friends and I’ve been trying to do every challenge while she does only a few, yet every time my score pulls ahead of hers, in less than a minute, she miraculously has one more point than me and is back out front but hasn’t even done a challenge!! Wth??

          • I was frustrated about this as well! I think the problem is that when you go to vote, it doesn’t remind you what the “story line” was. Even after a design is closed it removes the story line, you only see that at the beginning of the design.

      • I know for me, there is no way to increase diamonds in order to buy style-appropriate furniture so i MUST use the cheapest available or what i already bought previously bc i cant win. They need to consider offering LOW COST or natural resources or craft made designs bc the buying experience is ludicrous
When you live in the suburbs and you ARENT an aristocrat, well – none of these items atre affordable for the way ID like 2design them. I WANT to decorate for other themes but for now my only affordable theme is “cheap furniture” style rooms. If fhese folks had any imagination, they should think more into this. OR its a strategy to make the “addicted” NEED to BUY (with real money) the diamonds they need to play a gamble on a winning design.

      • I see the same problem. I’m an interior designer IRL, so I also understand colors and know how to use them in a space. The times I’ve spent $$$ on items I thought fit the theme I’ve received low scores, but the second I make everything black & white I get a 5 star vote.
The part I don’t know how to do is compete a design that doesn’t meet the requirements and gets 5 stars. How do you submit a design that doesn’t meet the requirements? I see it all the time when I’m voting.

        • You may think they’re not meeting the design requirements, if something doesn’t call for a specific type of room like eclectic or traditional but only calls to use a color or a leather chair they will use that color or a leather chair whether it goes with the traditional room or not

      • I’ve noticed that the majority of players only pay attention to “colors” instead of “themes” and more often than not, those get the highest scores. I’ve also noticed that viewers love blue, and the beach theme no matter the theme of the design. Not sure if I believe the voting is all together fare, but they say that voting helps increase scores, so if all are not voting daily, then that could decrease scores as well. I do think they need to do improvements in some areas, and definitely increase the options to earn more diamonds, especially since all wall, table, floor, limited edition decor and some rugs are purchased with diamonds

    • My thoughts exactly. SOME designers only use black and white to design, they always win, and u never see them use their winning prizes – but yet they always have the money and or diamonds to keep all the black and white stuff in stock. Can anyone explain that one?

    • That is so true!! I’m so sick of the top “designers” who just regurgitate the same design over and over using the black & white rugs or the green/teal rugs. They never stick with the challenge theme but yet the voters continue to vote for them. This is just driving me crazy and I think they need to make the challenges harder to do this but better yet how about the voters who do the voting??! What is wrong with you people and why do you keep voting for these designs ? I don’t think I’d feel like a “winner” doing the same design again and again and just changing the 4 same rugs as I feel like it. I’m not wanting to play this game anymore. I will probably but ooohh I get so mad!! And don’t get me started on where are my prizes ??? I’ve seen multiple pieces of furniture that were suppose to be prizes and yet I never get them. A lot of kinks need to be worked out but if their getting cash for all this it’s not gonna happen.

    • I wish someone would clarify that thought. I take time and consider the story and what the requirements are supposed to be, I score lower when I follow the story. If it says traditional I use traditional, but end up with a low score. When I ignore the story and requirements I score higher. I enjoy the fun fantasy design part of it, but I am tired of low scores on designs made to story and the “5” examples do not follow the story.

    • No, I TOTALLY see what you are describing all. The. Time. It is sooooo bogus. People Don’t read or care about the Vignettes, the storylines, right?, and they dont care about the style, and put in whatever the hell they want, and they WIN! I have actually written to the game about this because it’s wrong. It fosters crap play, pushes away folks that know design, history, heck, just READ, fer cryin out loud, and in fact the game itself is sooo much more than design. It’s a game of strategy, seriously, of husbanding your resources so you have something for each type of challenge, in each furniture category, which makes it so much more interesting. But it’s not played that way at all. I’m hanging in so I can finally be a bigwig enough to throw my plant succulent lithographs, what’s hot now, around like nobody’s business, etc. But its shoddy crummy design work. I’m embarrassed to do what I see the big winners do, time after time.

      • I agree with everything you said! It’s so frustrating. I read all the little vignettes and try and design accordingly. Not to brag, but many times I have designed a room based on the description and feel that mine looks better than many of them that won and don’t follow the theme at all. It’s so frustrating to put that much effort into designing something that matches not only the architecture but the setting, and then find out that nobody seems to care. Many times the people that score 5’s don’t even bother to try and match the theme at all and frankly some of the designs are ugly.

    • Exactly how I feel. Sometimes it’s so unfair… The winners are usually the ones who bought pre arranged sets they sell, with all the matching items

  4. Some tips I have for other players are,
Watch your symmetry, try to balance the size of stuff through out the room and try to center your wall pictures.
Try to add a spot of color to a monotone room
Contrast light or bright furniture in a dark room and vice versa
Don’t enter any completion if you don’t like the prize and don’t use something you accidentally won if you think it is ugly it probably is.
I find the most popular colors are blue rooms or black and white rooms
Don’t decorate wallpaper with pictures, stick to a clock or wreath or a word, remember less is more.
One print in a room is enough, 2 is pushing it and 3 is a low score
When there are 2 chairs or tables or lamps ect. in Arizona they should be the same, most people will score down if not.
Above rule is reversed for pictures, don’t put 2 of the same pic in a room.
This is what I have observed, not necessarily my taste, good luck and have fun

    • I agree with matching the chairs, tables and lamps. This morning I was voting on a dining room that called for 6 chairs. Five chairs matched but the one furthest ways and the least visible was a completely different style and color. I felt like they were trying to hide it. I notice things like this and I always vote for the other room when I see it.

As for pictures, I would rather see two of the same picture then to have two pictures side-by-side that are different sizes and themes. They need to be cohesive.

Also, when I am voting, if I know the back story then I vote for the room that relates to the back story even if the other design looks better overall. If I was a client in real life then it would be more important to me that the designer took what I wanted in to account then to give me a room that is beautiful but does not fit my style. I wish the game would have the back story pop up when you are voting.

    • Tomorrow the game will give you 500 diamonds and if you do the Daily Challenge, you will get 2500 dollars. For today join my Design Home Support group page on Facebook and tell me which challenge you have up and I will help you use your existing inventory

  5. I would like to invite everyone to the Design Home Support page on Facebook. Download pics of your success es and failures. Give constructive criticism. And make friends.

      • Click on ur diamonds at the top of the page and it will take you to the premium store. Click on free and it will take you to the bottom of the page where you can do one of 2 things to earn free diamonds. You can either “watch a video” for 15 diamonds or “complete an offer” where it will take you to a page that has many options of different things you can do to win hundreds or thousands of diamonds. You can download games or take surveys or purchase items all of which give you diamonds. If you need diamonds to spend on a room your doing at the moment you have options to complete an offer quickly like taking a survey or downloading and running an app and after you complete them you will find the diamonds in your inbox. Or the longer ones like downloading a game and playing to certain levels where you can win even more diamonds according to how quick you finish the offer. Some of them may take a few days or a week or more to complete the offer but they usually pay out more diamonds. For example I downloaded a slots game that gives several diamond payouts for completing different levels. Ive completed 3 of the levels so far and its given me over 70,000 diamonds in less than a week of playing it. There’s a ton of different options to choose from and many are simple and quick and some take longer but in the end give a bigger payout and give you enough diamonds that you can complete several different rooms with since you can use diamonds in place of cash to buy furniture. I love this option to earn diamonds because it helps me design not just more rooms but better rooms because it opens my options to afford different furniture to complete the challenges. And you can accept more than one offer at at time and do them simultaneously. Hope this helps .

  6. What does the + mean above the bubble? I’ve completed the room but it won’t let me enter my design. It says not all requirements are meet. All bubbles were used, whats a person to do?

  7. I had to replace each item until I found the one that was sticking. It was the console table. The bad part is that it took two of my console tables even though I only used one. I hope I can get it back

  8. I’d love to know how to get a new ID…is this possible!? I had no idea what I was doing in the beginning and was hoping to start again. I thought you got a set amount per room, not a running total.

    • Do the daily challenges they are the easiest for requirements and you will earn $2500 + 500 diamonds per day.
Also, the HGTV challenges pay $1000 instead of the regular challenges that pay only $500.

  9. Only after playing this game for awhile did I find out that it is a scam. Problem is, it’s a phenomenal game but they cheat their players. So they get 5 star ratings on the game, but most mention that it needs improvement, doesn’t seem fair, etc. I wrote to Crowdstar, thinking they were making errors, or that a glitch stole my money and some of my inventory. It never was answered. But you see as you go on, you can’t possibly be an active player without paying to play. People are reporting $20-50 a month. Why didn’t they charge for the game and just treat their gamers well?

    • Yep, I’m with you there. I think I’ve spent about $40 on the game.
It doesn’t seem like the game designers are actually listening to the feedback.

      • Several of the other games out there at least allow you to watch a video ad to earn money to play. But not this one. And I would like to see them make some sort of chat room where players can meet and discuss different ideas or get to know each other.

        • If you go to the + sign next to your diamond total it will bring up a menu where you can purchase diamonds. On the far right side it says free. Click that to watch videos, complete surveys, etc. to earn diamonds.

          • Don’t try to do the survey .kept getting redirect to another survey did not get diamond promised only received 20 diamond and to top it off i’m getting a lot of calls from telemarketer. Would not have mind if I had received the diamonds

        • There’s lots of ways to get LOTS of free diamonds. When you click to by diamonds click on free on the left then scroll down and it says complete offers. You can play other games, sign up for a Western Union and Rush Card (you don’t have to activate them) download certain apps and do the free trial. I’ve gotten tons of diamonds this way. You can also watch videos for like 20 diamonds.

          • How long did you wait to get those diamonds? I completed about 4-5 offers two days ago – even more because there were more related to the same games I installed and played…. and I never got the diamonds for completing hte offers.

    • When you are designing a room and you select the item you need to fill, there are owned and shop choices so you can choose from what you own in your inventory, or shop and buy a new item to place in the room.

  10. In some designs, a message will appear that says “item too large for area” for every item in my inventory, yet it will allow me to purchase much larger items for the same space. Is this a glitch or a money making scheme by Crowdstar?

  11. Why after you have been scored for a room you just designed, do they not tell you why they gave you the score that they did? I have designed what I thought were really beautiful rooms and received some low scores! Why don’t they tell you what you did wrong?

    • It is because “they” is all of the people that voted on this particular challenge. When you vote a challenge appears. Randomly, two participant’s entries are presented for you to choose from. “They” should be viewing the photos and looking to see if the design has the required elements, what is the room used for, is the design balanced, does the design fit the building and room within building description, is the design cluttered, off balance with too many random pieces, etc. Then “they” choose one of the two or if “they” think that they are basically the same then “they” use the equal (=) icon. For each voting group 10 photos are presented to you randomly, 2 each, 5 times. However, I do think that some of the decisions are based on the voter’s personal visual preference rather than true design rules. I have only been playing this game for a week. Of the nine challenges that have been finalized I received 4+ stars on 7 of them and 3+ on 2 of them; 4 earns you a prize, 3.99 or less earns you nothing. Both of my 3’s were from my first and third challenges so I learned from my mistakes. One design I knew I would not win after seeing the voting in progress. It has too many unrelated elements. The other design was balanced and colorful, maybe too colorful for the voters’ tastes. You will get a feel for what is good through the voting and from your final rating in each challenge. Do not get frustrated. I view this as a learning game and I believe it has sharpened my eye for detail. Good luck and try to have fun with it!

      • But it’s more than that… voters don’t seem to care about the design brief when voting. If it says to ‘create a space for twins with different styles’ yet the winning designs are all completely symmetrical with the same furniture and artwork, how is that fair?

        • I noticed that in the design for the twins with different styles also. I designed a completely different space for both children although the designs were compatible in color coordination etc. But many of the five star designs were symmetrical. I didn’t understand that.

        • That drove me crazy too! I was so proud that I fulfilled the challenge in a cute and complimentary way and received a horrendous score. I was so annoyed that all the winners were matchup matchup and not at all what the challenge asked for. I am one that really tries to fulfill the requirement and seem to score better on my least favorite designs…Lol.

        • Totally agree! I am twin and even though “identical”, we were so different that we had separate bedrooms that my mom designed for us individually and surprised us upon return from a summer trip. That was so cool! I truly understood the design concept of the challenge for these twins and yet the top scores ignored that.
On my tiny device, occasionally my finger slips and I go oh sh— because I didn’t want want to vote for that one or maybe didn’t think that either one was worthy of a vote….
I have begun looking more closely at the stars for each design I place my vote and that is a learning experience.
I love the game even though it’s not perfected. I would like to see a sorting option for inventory so that you know what items you might be short on.

  12. I love this game but it needs better accents. Some throw blankets , flower arrangements dried or real, or decorative vases and urns. The candle arrangement for Christmas was awesome more candle Arrangements like that would be. And more artwork pictures quite a few of the pictures do not go with the challenges. Color choices for carpeting, and maybe a little more rustic items or maybe some more antique items and unusual art.

    • One thing i found with carpet choices, they are more expensive than any other type of accent item. I also noticed that you have to hit certain levels to get different items. I have yet to find what level i am at. Where do you find it? I also have noticed that with the requirements for different rooms and styles, for when i vote, they do not correspond to the type that was supposed to be used. How is it that other players are using items that don’t meet the requirements, but are still being able to enter it into the voting process. I do believe that some don’t care how their room looks, and just put anything in, even though it does not match. Like on the Exclusive Waterfront Home, has the green, purple, orange wall paper, and i have seen during the voting process that some are not presentable, to me. I showed my boyfriend and he agreed mine looked best so far because i used colors from the wallpaper to decorate my room.

    • YES!!! Throws, blankets, cushions, curtains and, why not, change the paint on the walls… And PLEASE, allow beginners the chance to buy some plants and wall art… Not only are some available at level 35 or something, some are LIMITED so if you entered the game at a wrong time, nothing doing…

  13. This is a very frustrating game. The only time I am able to decorate a room with the furniture I want to use, I have to pay a ridiculous amount of money. $10 for a room? Otherwise, I have to settle for items I don’t really like because they are cheap. There’s no way to make enough money in the game unless you wait until the next day. It’s really very annoying. I feel like I’m being cheated.

  14. I really like this game, but i get frustrated when i can only enter a challenge 3 or 4 times a day…why dont they give us more challenges per day???

    • I feel the same way. If we are choosing to play this game and even spend money why not allow us to enter as many challenges as we wish to. Also waiting on those results really suck. Love designing though ;)

  15. I feel like the only ones complaining are the ones who cannot take a challenge. Sure the money is limited, and sure you have to work with “what you got” but that’s the whole challenge
Of the game!!! A true artist can piece together cheap items mixed with let’s say one or two good items and make it look beautiful. You also need to know what items to invest in.. items that the color scheme will work with most of your pieces no matter if it’s a living room, dining, or bedroom. As some other players have stated, they made a big mistake purchasing expensive items at the beggining not realizing they should reserve the money and spend carefully. I did the same thing! Including an 8k carpet! However, I learned quick from my mistake and about 20 designs later I’ve gotten 4+ stars. Word of advice.. classy not tacky gets you good ratings. And color coordinate!!!! If you choose 1 blue item, make sure there is blue in other areas like in the flowers, in the carpet, or whatever. I find that the pictures that get the worst rating are a room that looks “good” except that one random colored piece of furniture that doesn’t belong. If you don’t have all the right pieces, don’t do the challenge! Save and conserve them for another challenge.

    • Exactly how I feel. Sometimes it reminds me of that show that used to be on HGTV or DIT called Trading Places. You can make a beautiful room with less expensive items.

    • There is also a way to uae complementary colours… you don’t always have to go monochromatic. Also, “classy” and “tacky” are subjective. My house is a style I like to call “glamour and kitch”. Of course I could just be rationalizing my attraction to all things leopard and shinny. ;)

    • I can’t disagree with you more. I’ve been playing for a couple months, when voting I’ve seem deplorable designs receive 5 star votes that do not in any way meet the requirements. This part confuses me greatly. I’m still trying to figure out how people are able to submit designs that don’t meet the requirements. Just today, there is an outdoor room that asked for 4 outdoor items, but I see other designs through the voting process that do not have any outdoor furniture in them at all. How is this possible?

    • I don’t think it’s fair to dismiss legitimate criticisms as not knowing how to play. If someone follows the design rules, it’s not right that the “judges” use different criteria to rate the completed design. The voting seems very arbitrary. I know art is subjective, however I have seen some pretty ugly designs get 5 stars. I also find it highly suspect that they don’t allow people to rate or comment on the game in Google Play.

  16. Crowdstar has filtering problems in their games and they completely ignore complaint tickets about the filters. In Design Home, I own many items that never come up when playing. Others are random. For example, I own 9 stools that are available in my inventory but most of the time only 3 or 4 will come up. This happens with no other filters other than “stools”. I also own dining tables and a sectional sofa that never have become available. I have android devices so I’m not sure if the os is the problem but it isn’t in their Covet Fashion game.

    • I have the same problem. In a recent challenge, it showed only 3 dining tables being owned. In fact, I had at least 4 more. They weren’t showing as unavailable due to size, but simply not existing. This is frustrating, as it puts you in the position of needing to purchase something new (that you doing need) to complete the challenge. And, maybe that’s the point $$…

      • I try to follow the requirements to a “T”. If it calls for a using the contemporary style with rustic accents, I look to see what is in my inventory for what needs to be in that room, I use those first if i can, then design around those items. I try my best not to use all my cash or diamonds i have collected so i can use it when i don’t have something in my inventory, that i can purchase in another challenge. If a challenge calls for a certain vibe about it, like southwestern. I pick the rug first then design around that. That way i don’t have a billion different styles and colors. It’s so easy once you use the main key piece and design around that.

        • I noticed that i follow the guidelines and it will not let me submit .. for example it asks for 2 green items and 1 rustic item yet it will not let me submit design why is that ?!?!

      • That is the point. Their goal is to get you to spend money and the more the better. Your full inventory will never be available when designing.

      • I agree. Items won don’t show in my inventory a lot! Reading all the comments here and on other sites the owners of the game don’t bother to respond or fix issues.

    • I’ve cleared the cache and force stopped many times and I’m still having inventory problems. I own 16 ottomans but usually only 4 or 5 filter as available. I still can’t access any but 1 of my dining tables. Sometimes items show but say they are too large. By closing and reopening, the same item fits just fine. This happens often. I’ve written so many tickets with no response. I have no idea if or when we will ever see all of those sectionals filter. Does anyone know of any other good interior design games that actually run properly?

    • I’ve found that some of the items you win work in later design challenges. Maybe the challenge won’t appear that day, but will appear the next day or the day after. They release new items every day, where each new piece works in the deign challenges of that day. Every one of these games is geared toward tempting you to spend real $$$. So if you’re not prepared to spend a little for some mild entertainment then this game probably won’t give you what you expect.

  17. Hi! I have been playing this game since it first came out and now I have about $100 and thousands of diamonds. I can’t even buy a table! I’ve been trying to restart the game……Is it possible to do that??????

    • Go to your application manager in your device settings. Find the game, open it and select “force stop”. This often corrects a misbehaving game. Unfortunately it hasn’t solved my problems with Design Home. Good luck!

  18. Does anyone know why I’m not receiving the items I’m supposed to win? Every time I’ve received 4.0 or above, the prize I’ve supposedly won is never in my inventory. What am I missing here?

  19. Do anybody know why they would decrease your personal score. Did 15 challenges and all of a sudden my personal score started going up and down, which it wasn’t doing before.

  20. My biggest “complaint” is that sometimes items I KNOW I had in my inventory…Usually things I’ve won…Suddenly disappear without me ever having used them! Is there a time limit for prizes…Use it or lose it type thing?

  21. This game cracks me up. Totally tries to get you to spend real money. I have 14 different sectional couches, 5 uses for all of them. So far I have not seen any challenges that use sectional couches, I’ve been playing since Nov. 2016. It’s an easy way to give a prize on 4.00 designs & higher without really giving a prize since you can’t use it.

  22. I have no problem spending a little money to be entertained, but they really need to be more fair to their players! The prizes are useless, the wallpapers are hideous, and because of a bug, I spent $13,000 on five sets of something. I contacted them about this and they made no apologies. Yikes! Yet, I find myself addicted. Perhaps in the spirit of Lent, I should no longer indulge.

  23. I wrote about a problem to the problem conversation page about a bug in my game, it was solved but the wording still remains in the conversation section, so I can’t write any more complaints!

  24. I’m so mad now. I spent an hour designing an amazing room, anchored with the perfect rug. All looked great, but after I hit enter, my rug disappeared!! WTH?? Now it looks horrible. I would love to know a) why that happened (I do own the rug and only used it twice) and b) is there a way to edit our challenges or delete them to start over as long as they’re still open? Glitches like these are extremely frustrating.

    • Yes & i keep getting shifted on my diamonds & how do you get bundles free meaning using game cash can you start a room over in town house without loosing ur furniture i just want chane a couple of pictures

    • I would definitely appreciate being able to do that as well. I have an inventory chock full of hideous items I will never use. Checkered chairs, women’s faces with hats in red frames, the dreadful lips, the horrible paintings with broken necks, frankly, most of the stuff I win, so much stuff is just awful.

  25. I added a rug to my design and hit finish, they asked if I wanted to purchase the rug I hit no, now the design came out without the rug. Is there a way to go back into my design to add the rug?

  26. I am amazed at some of the designs that have won. I design as a hobby and I am pretty good at it, so I cannot believe some of the designs that are receiving perfect scores while mine sometimes receive less than four stars. I’ve noticed people are afraid of color, monochromatic usually wins, and I don’t think people are voting on what they really like, only hitting stuff at random so they can receive keys.

    • I totally agree. People don’t like color or wood. Yet some of the designs that win don’t remotely follow the design team like using formal upholstered furniture for a rustic dining theme. And sometimes the winning designs are God awful! I’m really surprised at some of the five point ratings.

    • I hate that people don’t like color. Wherever I design a colorful room I get less than a 4. It’s so weird to me. So lately I’ve been sticking with white, blue, black, and grey. Or I’ll stick with only 2 colors so I don’t get a crappy score. I’ve had some awesome designs of mine get low scores just for some lame room to come out with a perfect 5 smh

    • I’m an interior designer IRL. I’ve noticed this as well. My real clients are afraid of bold colors and coordinating prints, I imagine most of the people voting are afraid of the same thing. Black and white designs seem to win most. If you have the white rug with black circles in your design, chances are you will get more votes. The only reason why is most Americans are afraid of color. We live in the land of beige and black and white.

    • Have actually managed to get ugly-stuff-winning votes for rooms including mostly wood (or what kinda sorta looks like wood). I like wood, it’s natural and fits in with anything IRL. Have tended to decorate in greys and beiges so I can put in one or two somewhat matching bold items, and they tend to mix-and-match well enough. Don’t care for black and white myself, too stark. White is a terribly unpractical color. I’m finding that bold colors work (for me, at least) as long as they are in very limited use, balance out with something else, not terribly garish and blend in very well with the rest of the stuff.
I can’t stand the white rug with black circles. Or similar rugs. These eat up the whole room and you can throw a roomful of white furniture on it and it still looks awful. Oh, while I’m complaining about rugs: what is it with the red rug with blue stars (or was it blue rug with red stars)? Or the winning g green rug with symmetrical blue pattern? Puke.
And the wallpapers in most of the children’s room?! Blecch. It’s really impossible to decorate around that, in all honesty I’d spend money ripping that crap out.
I’m also an artist and as Susan Swain states, all too often the winning room have absolutely no sense of composition, scale, or color. And no taste in art. How is it that winning rooms all too often have two or three of the exact same horrible artwork on the walls? That alone should be forbidden.

      • I just started playing this game April the 1st. I pursued an art degree in college, and in fact, had an academic scholarship. I pay attention to the challenge requirements, scale, color and pattern coordination, and still don’t get a perfect 5. Some of my designs get less than 4, and it’s probably because I don’t own that infamous black and white rug with the circles.
It’s a fun game, but I don’t take it personally if people prefer oatmeal instead of crepes with fruit and bacon on the side.

  27. Why do you use diamonds to purchase $cash? Once you use the Diamonds to purchase $cash, what is the $cash used for? Can you only use diamonds to get furniture and rugs? Or can you use $cash to get furniture and rugs? And when I say cash here I mean the dollar sign$

  28. I have been playing for a few weeks. It’s a fun game, but totally designed to manipulate you into spending money to keep playing. The ways of manipulation are:
    * You can only use an item 5 times before it disappears from inventory.
    * Some designs’ required elements are very pricey and specific, so you either buy the items or you can’t play. If a design requires a yellow sofa for example, unless you have one already in inventory, you don’t want to spend $2000 on a yellow sofa that will not play well with anything else you have.
    * Limited number of designs per day.
    * Prizes often aren’t anything you’d want.
    * Waiting a long time to get results to design competitions.
    * Two types of currency – “cash” and “diamonds”. You can exchange diamonds for cash, but not the other way around.
    * Some things you really need to complete a look, such as accessories and artwork, are only available with diamonds and those are hard to come by.
    * You cannot sort your inventory to determine how many items you have or what their design attributes are. For example, you may have 3 couches that look black and contemporary, but maybe one couch is tagged as “dark grey” and another is tagged “traditional.” The only way to tell is to enter a challenge and see what the filters do.
    * Create bogus ratings and scores to keep you playing in hopes you can better your score or rating. You can only better your personal rating by spending a lot of money.

    I could go on.

I have not spent any money on this game and have enjoyed it quite a bit. Here’s my strategy to get the most enjoyment for no money:
    * Log in daily to get your daily bonus and to check in on how your designs have scored.
    * Complete the daily challenge to get the big $2500 bonus. This challenge usually has few rules around it. If you want to get rid of junk and take a low score just to get the bonus, this is the place to do it.
    * For other challenges, read the requirements and enter the challenge temporarily. Use the “Requirements” filters to see if you have the big-ticket items on hand – sofas, dining tables, cabinets etc. If you do, put those in place and then see what smaller-ticket items you need to buy with the games “cash” and “diamonds” to fill out the design.
    * Buy plain big-ticket items that will go with a lot of designs. A grey or white sofa, a dark cabinet, a neutral rug. Don’t splurge on a fancy colorful big-ticket item – it will overpower designs.
    * Spend the game’s “cash” on smaller-ticket items such as lamps, side tables and ottomans that have some personality and color.
    * Don’t worry about your individual point rating. It’s meaningless! All that matters is that you enjoy your designs.
    * You can sometimes hide ugly items that you got as prizes alongside beds and sofas, depending on the angle of the room.
    * If you don’t have enough good items for a design, it’s better to skip it than to waste one of your five turns on a mediocre design. The only exception to this is if you want to burn a TON of ugly items just to get the “cash” bonus.
    * Don’t take the stories about the designs too literally. Voters can’t read them when they vote anyway.
    * Finally, you need to be patient. Play once a day to maximize your rewards. Don’t keep checking in all the time. If you don’t have good stuff for a design, skip it! There will be a bunch more posted tomorrow.

    • Well put, Didi. That’s pretty much how I play, too. I especially agree with your point about sorting our inventory…it’s difficult to know how the game will filter. I bought a small item categorized as a “garden stool”, but its description contains the word “ottoman”. It doesn’t show up in my inventory by either filter.

More frustrating is the game designers’ lack of response to everyone’s suggestions and legit problems

But still, I’m having fun with it.

      • Thanks for your detailed post, Didi!
Didi and Mikey, I also wish we could sort by inventory. And I really wish we could sort “shop” stuff by price – it’s the only way many of us can and do purchase inventory.
I can’t shake my annoyance at items like stools and ottomans, and even side or accent tables, that can be used quite interchangeably – and not being permitted to do so.
I was initially very frustrated by being forced to purchase qty 2 (as in qty 5) of ugly nightstand, accent table, even accent chairs, and whatever they call dining chairs, etcetera, only to have to hide one or both or several behind other stuff. I’m learning how to only use a minimal quantity and at least partially hide the other ones. This is where buying similar stuff in similar colors can come in real handy.
I also started dumping ugly stuff in daily living rooms, although it totally makes me cringe that this crap has my name attached to it.
The total lack of response of game designers is utterly frustrating and thoroughly annoying. Not for nothing do we all keep running into the same issues a year later – these are definitely legit issues.
I’m having fun with it also. But there is definitely lots of room for improvement.

      • Di & mike i agree ive been playing about 2months & ive did good till i started doing more rooms & having to buy xtra furniture i already had to fit the requirement i still have 3000 diamonds & 20,ooo cash, but i have no good accessories & im not using my diamonds i just spent 2000 in cash for furniture & some furniture require diamonds so im just doing the 2500 entry once a day i have reciieved 1 5 star the rest are 4 & lower & 3.96 & 3.99 & 3.69 & ive entered 17 challenges & have a town house but like all of you im missing diamods furniture & wall art plants i agree game need answer tickets faster

  29. I would LOVE if this game had a feature where you could SELL some of the items you buy. Sometimes I buy specific things for a challenge and never use them again. Or I buy something when I’m high on the hog that later I need to hoc to get something else. OR I buy a rug that I thought was great at the time only to grow to hate it, especially when you see everyone else using it for the same reason. It could even be where you have to get a discounted price on it or something. Or sell it to other players!! Like, buy it at a discount but maybe you only have like, one ottoman left and you can sell it. Okay, maybe that’s too much. Anyway, it would be nice to have another way to get some cash without having to dig in your actual wallet. As someone who designs on a budget I think it would make it more realistic.

  30. I cant finish my design as i need 3 geometric items but it just comes up with a rug and i already have it in the room has anyone else had this problem?

    • What you might try is going into the new releases items and selecting a type of item then select the pattern filter for geometric. You will see all the items available for that. All the items you own will have a little green dot with a number in it.

    • How do you contact their customer service? I have completed 2 actions and haven’t received any rewards. They say it takes 24 hours before you see it in your inbox, but it’s been over 48 hours and I have received nothing

  31. Suddenly I can’t purchase diamonds with my verizon account. I aLways have and dont know what happened. I used the email but never got a response. Anyone else?

  32. I’ve been playing this game for about a month, and I still don’t understand how the inventory works. I have a lot of stuff in my inventory that doesn’t show as available when I do my challenges. I’ve seen that question asked in this thread several times and no one has answered it. Does anyone know how you access everything in your inventory?

  33. What is going on with the scoring? You used to be able to see the results immediately after the voting ended (on the design page within the design), but now I’m waiting 8-10 hours to see results? Grrr!!!!

Aside from that, I enjoy the app. Wish they had more wall, rug and table art choices as others have mentioned (too much man-cave or juvenile stuff) and 1-2 more challenges per day. As far as $$-saving tips, I try to buy within a handful of color schemes so I can use my purchases in multiple rooms (which is why we see so many black, white and grey designs), and save the DWR and other expensive items just for those brand challenges when they appear. I also do not use table art when it’s too small to be able to even tell what it is in the picture nor do I use more than one picture on a wall – you can use an extended-arm floor lamp to fill those wall spaces ($$ vs. diamonds) – unless you really need the extra pics to pull the design together. And, as someone mentioned, if the room design is tough with the items you have and/or the prize isn’t something you will use, then skip it and save those dollars for another challenge!!

  34. I guess this is a stupid question but can anyone tell me what prize means when buying design options. Do you get a prize for purchasing the item. I’m a little confused. Amy help with the question would be appreciated.

    • Prizes means that item is under prizes category. You can get it if you get 4 or 5 marks. When you enter challenge u can see in the description what prize will u get if u win. I normally wont buy items that under “prizes” category/label. Hoping i will receive it for free if i win. Haha… Let say if i buy that “prizes” item with some amount of money,i will automatically received 5items. Then if let say happen I enter challenge that offer same prizes and i win, so again i will receive that same item, 5 and for free. I normally enter all challenges no matter what the prizes are.

  35. I think it means at some point the item has been or could be given as a prize for a 4.0+ rating. Seems pretty meaningless considering the odds of it showing up as a prize in a future challenge when what you want is to use it now.

It does help to know what the prizes are for current challenges, in case there is something you want…or don’t.

  36. I used to be able to play the videos for diamonds in the free section but all of a sudden none of them won’t play and I cannot reap the free diamonds. Also, there have been a couple of times I have fulfilled the game requirements (also for free diamonds) and never got them. When I contacted tapjoy, they said I had to send them a screenshot (well, that happened the day before and I deleted the app already). Flaky at best.

  37. I’m addicted to this game! Never spent a penny of my own money. Just make sure and do the daily challenges for $2500 and your money shouldn’t run out. Also do the free offers. I’ve made LOTS of diamonds this way. I do not like the voting, it’s very subjective. I’ve designed plenty of rooms that are worthy of 4 or more and only gotten scores in the 3’s. People don’t pay any attention to the requirements.

  38. There are not enough challenges each day, so I really wish they would ad a permanent staging show room that is not a challenge but always there, where you can decorate and place your items in the room to see how the pieces you have work together and to practice designing. That would give us something to do when there are no more challenges to do or when you can’t enter the available challenges. I sent them an email suggesting more challenges each day and a staging room but I doubt they care about what we would like to see in the game, since I never even got a response to my email.
Also, I have been playing this game for several months and have never spent a penny of real money on it. I use the tapjoy tasks to earn diamonds (it’s under “FREE” when you click on the + to buy cash or diamonds). I earn an average of 3000-5000 diamonds a day completing offers that cost no real life cash to complete. It’s a bit tricky figuring out which offers are likely to work and be truly free, it is worth the time it takes to earn diamonds for free, which allows you to play the game without spending any money. I NEVER ever spend real life money on games and never will. There are always ways around it where you can still play the game successfully, if you are willing to spend a little time, and can be a little patient.
The game designers do try everything they can to make it where you need to spend your money to play, so I take great pleasure in finding ways to play the game successfully and to my satisfaction, without spending any real money, lol.

    • What you might try is going into the new releases items and selecting a type of item then select the pattern filter for geometric. You will see all the items available for that. All the items you own will have a little green dot with a number in it.

  39. Also, when you use the tapjoy tasks to get free diamonds, ALWAYS ALWAYS take a screenshot of the finished task page, because if you don’t get your diamonds for completing the task, you can send in a ticket by clicking on “missing diamonds” at the bottom, and tapjoy will email you asking for a screenshot to prove you completed the task. At least 60% of the diamonds I earn, I have to send in a ticket, but as soon as you reply to their email with a screenshot proving you did it, you will get your diamonds within 24-48 hours. I usually end up getting mine within 12 hours, but sometimes it takes longer if they have a lot of tickets at that time.

    • Have you looked at all the art that will be available for each level? There are 43 levels and you can see what is coming up for all levels by scrolling down in the artwork section past everything that is available to you to shop for and tap on the first unavailable item. It will take you to a page that you can scroll through and see all the artwork for all levels. The people who have been playing longer, and are probably paying real cash for items, progress faster in levels and have access to artwork that you can actually use…..unlike the lobster print that i just received in level 12:( Hope that helps.

  40. There are no surveys available for my location only games that crashed my phine and my tablet. Its hard to do a good design on these limited resources.

  41. I don’t like the voting rule. Competing against people who have spent much more. To be honest some of my designs have been identical to others, they get 5 stats, I get 4 point something. Many times the winning designs are UGLY –
    I am over this game.

  42. I am wondering if anyone can tell me why, when I have purchased items, for example: I purchased two or three really nice dining room tables. They still have 4 uses on them as I only used them for one design each. Yet, when I go to a dining room challenge, they never show up so I can use them. This is very frustrating as I purchased them and now I can’t use them? This has also happened on other items I purchased, what gives? And how will I ever be able to purchase them? Oh yea, I also bought an accent chair, had 4 uses left yet EVERY design I tried to use it on it came up as ITEM TOO LARGE!! Really? Then one day it was just gone from inventory! I purchased this item and was only able to use it once. Things like this piss me off about this because these are items I could have used to do a much better design. Instead, I was forced to purchase another item to make it work and it was usually an item I could barely afford to purchase and NOT as nice as one I already purchased butnever came up when doing achallenge. Any answerrs?

    • It’s almost a year later and I have been having similar issues. I have complained about them repeatedly and have never heard from those in charge.
Way too many items are deemed “too large”. This is ridiculous. Let me be the judge of that. And if I’m a bad judge, I will be happy to live with that.
I have lost dining tables, dining chairs, ottomans, accent tables … these items have just disappeared out of my inventory after only one use. Or just randomly disappear. I bought these items.
IF these items disappear because they are no longer in style or some such nonsense, an expiration date should be given at time of purchase and keep being shown permanently.

  43. I have been playing this game for some time and I even spent a little money on it. I love the concept but their customer service leaves A LOT to be desired. I have completed SEVERAL offers through their ad company, Tapjoy, and never received the promised diamonds. I have tried to put in a ticket through both companies REPEATEDLY to no avail. All I get is some copy and paste message they send to EVERYONE if they see the word Tapjoy. They don’t even have the respect to READ my actual ticket to see that I have followed their instructions and tried to put in a ticket with Tapjoy.

  44. Y’know what… I am DONE with this game, DONE with running out of money, diamonds or suitable things to place in the purple bubbles. They purposely don’t give you enough cash so that at the end of a design you’re forced to buy more to complete it. They are money grabbing are holes. I’m going to stick with designing 3D rooms with real products with the roomstyler app in my deco, for FREE, where you can change the wallpaper and flooring plus add architectural features. They have over a hundred and fifty thousand premium items for free. They make their money off advertising like most other reputable apps. I have paid more on this game than a state of the art xbox game. Do they really think it’s worth more than that? They should go and eff themselves.

  45. Ps in the room styler they have comps, challenges, star ratings plus a beatification render and you can change the wallpaper heigh, camera angle, window style and furniture position. It’s a bit more work, but faster than doing brimming surveys to try and earn money and not getting it.

I would urge everyone to collect their daily reward from design home but only make a design every few days, and use the mydeco roomstyler for daily play

    • Glad to see I’m not the only one who has a problem getting my results. Also I don’t understand why, often, designs that are really bad seem to get higher scores than my good well thought out ones. I’m not trying to be judgmental but it’s a frustrating when designs using obnoxious colors and poorly matching furniture get the higher scores.

      • Absolutely, Sharilynn.
Obnoxious colors, hideous patterns in ugly-a$$ rugs, pi$$-poorly matching furniture, and horrible wall “art” that gets used 2-3 times in the same room?!? DubyaTeeEff!

  46. I’m having a similar problem mine seems to crash all the time. It doesn’t matter if I’m designing or voting it won’t stay on long. To be honest I feel like it’s got worse since I updated the app!

  47. You are again asking for more MB’s to do an update. This will be the third update since May. Please make the updates optional, as some other games do. If I do all the updates you request I will be unable to have anything else on my tablet. I already have added 1 SD card.

  48. The artwork you have to earn just to be able to use is usually butt ugly. Wish they would put some better items out there and make them more accessible. It takes too long to get to the next level to have more variety available.

      • They need to let US choose the frames. Personally, I dislike the black frames, and the colored ones, I prefer plain wood. The frame really depends on the “art”work, where you put it, what you place around it. I can’t use the black or other colored frames in most places because they clash with the rest of my designs too much, I specifically have to design to accommodate them.

        • Just got to another level and got a bunch of fruit to hang on my walls. Right.
No wonder I see rooms with three watermelons hanging in them – dump room.
I need to get the guts to put something that ugly out there…

  49. Just read every comment. This is the first game I have ever paid to play. Like others, I find it utterly addictive after about two months of play. Tried to avoid buying diamonds, but fell for it. Now I spend $10 a week. I’ m justifying it by rationalizing that it helps sharpen my design eye. Like others have stated, many aspects are frustrating, and following the “rules” of a challenge gets you nowhere. It feels hurtful to get a score below 4.0 and I have gotten a few 5.0 scores with my background in interior design. A challenge that featured an Italian villa with magnificently painted frescoes on the walls just ended. I looked at highest scoring design. It had a stupid picture of a whale hung on the wall, covering the mural. The voting is beyond stupid in many cases, but occasionally, someone’s room will stand out and is a pleasure to vote for. It almost feels like players are using the “vote for the worst” method.

The biggest hack I can suggest is to buy the stupid black and white carpet with a circular pattern, all black and white everything else, and use them in every single design.

      • Omg, I concur, that black and white circle carpet, it gets the votes. Using that Kathy Kuo turquoise couch and matching chairs, same thing. Quite a few with top scores use that ensemble in just about every room. It’s crazy. How is that showing your creativity? Another thing, I think they need to implement peer to peer voting. Where you vote on those designs for the level you are on. It’s not fair if you are just starting out and have less choices in decorative pieces, then being grouped in along with those at higher levels. Clearly, the CEO and the developers have made their money and are no longer interested in their base. That’s the problem with most apps, no one there to mind the store…just pay attention to the cash flow. Eh. You can’t get in touch with anybody when you have a problem with the game because the game, once formatted basically runs itself! They show up at their scheduled meetings only to discuss more ways to sever your wallet from your hand, and what the bonuses will be this year. Shame on big business, it’s gotten so greedy with their off shore accounts, and desires to eliminate paying any taxes. Fair means something to do with the weather, it has nothing to do with business apparently. They have no regard for their customers and it shows. There isn’t anything anyone can do about it, and they know it. People never boycott, never band together to insure a fair shake. Meanwhile they are laughing their fool heads off at all of us. Wouldn’t matter now anyway, they could fold shop and still be richer than hot fudge and caramel mixed in a blender. I can only hope I get so sick of this game that I quit playing. It won’t matter to them, but it will to me. I hate knowing I’m a contributor to shady business practices.
I hope they read this and get a snoot full.

    • I’m a design professional with a background in art. I, too, marveled at the ridiculousness of putting a picture of whale over an outdoor fresco in an Italian villa. But hanging artwork over filmy curtains in an outdoor “breezy, open deck” takes the cake (velcro?) Yet every single top 5.00 entry did just that, while I barely squeezed by with a 4.00 using real outdoor furniture and unloading that huuuuge wooden table– 3 at once!

I have learned that if you want a high score you do have to use that black and white rug and monochromatic “posh” scheme everyone is so fond of. Even if the design challenge calls for Industrial. Even if it is outdoors. Even if it is a bridalsuite in a stately home in Scotland.

I enjoy this game, and especially the challenges. You have to look at it as betting against the House. The House wants you to spend real money, but the challenge is to avoid doing so, and yet mange the following:
      1. Be able to use the expensive pieces won as awards so you can climb up the levels and get to unlock better art and accessories.
      2. Try to unload the ginormous or tacky furniture in ways that will not bring down your score. (PolArt could work in little instances here and there, but at this point I have so many PolArt rewards I could decorate the entire Addams Family Mansion — hey that would be a fun challenge!

    • Hahaha. I know exactly what y’all are saying! I specifically do not vote for a design including that gawdawful rug, and if it’s a choice between two designs with the same rug, it’s “equal” – as is equally horrible. And PolArt should be burnt – maybe not, it would probably melt.
It really seems that more often than not the choice is for the lesser of two evils. I’d rather be “equal” and not vote for either one, since I can’t specifically downvote anything.

  50. That is dumb to make us rebuy an item we dont re buy in real life like it forces you to spend your money on things you may already have. Kinda not liking this game like its trying to force you to spend and I just want to play the darn game without the complications.

  51. I cant enter the challenges coz i dont have the items and i cant get enough money in to buy items. I have messaged the “support” and got no reply. I don’t know how to reset the app and delete dater, i have uninstalled and reinstalled the game but it still gives me what i had before.
Does this mean that i am stuck…period..!
Please advise as i like the game but im seriously peeved as i didn’t get the idea of it and now im stuck

    • Have u tried clear data and clear cache of the apps?

Go to setting — apllication management — design home — click clear cache cache and clear data.

  52. Every time I try to watch a video to get diamonds, app crashes! If I go to Tapjoy to do a survey/quiz to get diamonds, a pop up scam covers the page and won’t allow me to go back unless I click on the link, which I will not do. This is frustrating to say the least! Anyone else having same problem? I can’t even send them a complaint because the app crashes before I can submit!!!

  53. Hi…i have been playing for a few months and love the game. I dont think the game is fairly played..as the same designers design the same looks over and over and get 5’s. Some dont follow the theme..they get 5’s. It will say boy or girl room..while voting..i see people are designing both..they get 5’s. Where is the originality of being a designer if all 5 score are the same color scheme. If you only want one color that should be mentioned. There are times that my rug purchases were not even the ones that i bought. When my money n diamonds run out i will be deleting the app. I feel i score low on great designs. I think designs should be voted on..but revised by app creators when bias scores are submitted. Lastly…stop competting scores against friends. That is all!

  54. The most annoyed thing when it comes to challenge to place a fury item in the room. N that fury item is not cheap. The cheapest is $1500/diamond and so ugly to be match wit the item under “relaxing bedroom” theme in the room. Furthermore I have so many unused items in my inventory. Mostly items that you received as prize you less use it. Coz not many theme require that. I think that is why they were given as prize. I hope there is option to sell all unused item. It’s really annoying to see wasted item in my inventory.

  55. Something odd happened to me today while playing Design Home. Some French writing appeared on my screen and 3GB data disappeared and also my air tine. I will have to uninstall this gane . Someone stole my data and air time. I went to my service provider and they notified me that my account was hacked by someone pkaying the game. I am so disappointed because I loved to play the game.

  56. The fact that at least 75% of players don’t read room themes drives me nuts! If someone fills a boy’s/men’s bedroom with pink or feminine items, I will ALWAYS vote for the other design, even if it’s terrible.
Ditto on using the same painting/print/poster multiple times in the same room. But alas, if you hang different art, you get crappy scores.
Speaking of crappy, that PolArt (sp?) Furniture has to go! It looks like creepy doll house junk! Would any of you over 10 years old seriously use that ‘furniture’ in your own home?!?
Also, the game tried blackmailing me the other day out of $1.99 – it would not let me vote for keys, but insisted I pay after finishing a design. Support was no help and just told me to restart the design (duh). Has this happened to anyone else?

  57. I have reached level 32 collecting rewards after each million, but what happens after this level? No rewards for next level! If there is a next level! I have asked for help, but it’s been a week and no reply. Can anyone help, Ty.

  58. I really enjoy this game but a month or sonata my game began shutting down often just as I place my last item. I have uninstalled, reinstalled. Logged off, shut down and rebooted over and over. Getting discouraged. This is the only app on my iPad that dies this. I would appreciate any help.

    • For those whose app keeps crashing, this game uses a ton of disk space. You can clear the cache, I do this at least daily. Sometimes there’s at least 3gb of cache saved.

To clear your cache, click on the head icon on the bottom right, then click on the wheel for settings. Go to advanced settings to view cache. Click on clear cache. It makes the game run much smoother with to interrupting crashes.

      • Problem is, whenever I clear the cache, the game slows down to a crawl and I have to wait for an ungodly amount of time while it constantly complains about the slow network connection, then nothing will load and I end up crashing the app.

        • I havent. Spent any real cash & i dont iintend too i have 370, 000 in prperty value, why cant i get cash frm there not my cash inventory which is 20,000 cash & 3000 diamonds, im now just doing daily challenge & im ok, i can take it or leave it, i have 2 rooms in my town house finishrd & can do my bath but im building up cash & diamonds before i finish my town house, you have to use money wisely ive turned in many tickets & never got a problem solved just kept going i have never decor before, great fun though my lowest score was 3.64 & my highest was a 5 one time lol & i didnt get the diamonds for that, so im sloing down, i have 17 rooms completed

  59. So, once I’ve used something 5 times, do I lose that item and have to repurchase it? If so, that completely unfair. They don’t let you win enough money or diamonds to make up for the loss!

  60. I love this game, but I am tired of black, white and grey rooms winning.
I wonder if some people have any imagination. Some of them are great while others that win are not.
Also, the time to own things is too short, hence the creators are making bank every time you buy diamonds.
I will probably quit as the winners most of the time are black, white or grey themed even though thay are not the best colors for the room colors. The walls or paint colors can be gold, red, greens, blues etc.

  61. I’m reading through a lot of these comments and I keep seeing that people feel cheated when they don’t see that they are receiving their free diamonds after completing the offers in the free diamond area of the game. If this happens to you, go back to the area where you complete the offers for free diamonds and scroll all the way down the list and at the bottom right corner you will see an area that says “missing diamonds?” And you need to click on that and fill out what offers you completed that you did not get your diamonds for and they will give it to you. It’s happened to me plenty of times and I’ve always been reimbursed right away after completing that. So for those of you that didn’t know that there was an option for that I really hope that helps you in the future. Xoxo

  62. I feel everyone’s frustration and concur with the complaints yet I really enjoy playing in spite of it all. Obviously the goal for Crowdstar is to make money and it is equallly obvious that the best designs have done so. I simply chalk it up to entertainment expense and try to spend about $5 a week to replenish art and plants and an occasional favorite piece of furniture. Remember most of the players are not professional designers so their taste is subjective as is color itself. I am a hairdresser and colorist and pride myself on “ mystyle” ( also my nick name lol), but I know enough that the client is always right even when their not. People like what they like so I’ve found that it’s a challenge to get the best score I can and try to figure the voting patterns which are sooo random. You can run
the “ watch a short video” section in get free diamonds You can repeat the process each day to win 300 diamonds. They are about 30 seconds each and you get 15 diamonds. So if you repeat it 20x, it takes 10 minutes: I turn the sound off and go about my business using the app on my phone. I have also won many diamonds by taking surveys when I’m desperate for something in a particular design or have run out of designs for the day. I also load up on keys and continue voting even past the max amount. Sometimes it’s amusing and baffling to see what people do and sometimes it’s inspiring. I also check out the top designs and and see how they used color and balance. All in all I’m learning to be a better designer and please myself. Sometimes I follow the rules and sometimes I go neutral to please the majority of the voters. I received an iPad a few weeks ago for my birthday and my designs have radically improved rather than using my phone. When I looked back over some past low scores I realized my mistakes and how different things look when they’re bigger. I take my designing seriously and enjoy going on the website and reading the specs on the actual furniture: I,ve even taken screen shots to compare whether the colors and/ or woods and metals work together. It’s crazy because the majority of the voters are probably using a tiny screen. I feel less frustrated hearing that their are several profffesional interior designers that don’t score so well on their really nice designs. All in all it’s a very entertaining game and great pass time for me when hubbys watching football.

  63. It’s all so very subjective. I’ve been playing this game for a couple of weeks and i too have noticed that, 9 times out of 10, it’s always the neutral or monochrome designs that win out. The only colour people seem to like is blue – anything else gets slammed.
Its heartening to read the posts from people who do this for a living or artists and other professionals who clearly know their stuff and have a deep understanding of colour, still find it hard to get that elusive 5.
Highest score i’ve got is 4.89, but i’ve fallen under 4 a couple of times and it’s really frustrating, when this happens it’s usually due to having used colour, that purple coach won early on is particularly unpopular and i still have one languishing in my inventory.
Some designs are great and some are truly hiddeous or just not appropriate – challenges where people thought nothing of placing fabric armchairs or chaises outdoors or by the pool; hanging paintings on garden fences; kids’ rooms furnished with king-size beds; outdoor furniture used in a living room; the same picture hung multiple times and just weird combinations that nobody would put together in real life (i hope!).
It amazes me what some people consider good taste, it also reminds me not to get too upset if i get marks lower than expected.
Still, I really enjoy the game. Now i try not to focus too much on the end score and more on creating a scheme i’m happy with and proud of.
Does anyone know if there are similar games out there? Would love to do more challenges and this game is limited.

  64. Where do I start? Voting is a JOKE!!!
At first I thought it was fun and so addictive. And now it is very expensive to play. I’ve spent real $$ playing this so called Design Home game..The voting on here is totally ridiculous! I believe my designs qualify for more than what I’m getting? As each time I get a low score of stars and my overall score goes down. I believe that concept in itself is Absurd! I agree with so many of these reviews about being unfair on design challenges. I have done exactly what the challenge asked for i.e. Rustic, Contemporary, Modern and so on with the proper items requested. However I noticed at the end of voting people don’t follow the rules and receive a 5* for some design that doesn’t even come close to 5*. That puzzles me? After about a month of spending some serious money I’m not at all inspired on playing this game anymore. How can they vote on designs that are not meeting the challenge required? I am starting to believe the voting is rigged as one person mentioned earlier. There are a lot bugs and the only thing I am doing is making this app/ company a whole lot of money as well as others mentioned on here..This is no fun! My designs follow the all the rules but a lot of others plainly don’t! The challenges require certain furniture criteria and believe me they cost $$
And yes I do vote but for the proper criteria. If it doesn’t meet the required I just = to not give a vote at all. If it meets the criteria and I feel it’s worth voting for then I will vote on that persons designs. How is the voting done is my question? I know it’s just a game, but come on I’ve spent some serious money playing this addictive game because it’s fun to design a home and meet the challenges required. The closest I’ve come on the Birthday celebration design was 4.90. Really? And all my other designs are so much better? How many people really follow the rules? Honestly, I don’t think the company cares how we feel about how the game is played as long as their making money on us! Hopefully they will read all our “Reviews” here and make the necessary changes? Who knows? I am giving this game a 1* in the “Review” but they won’t let me post it there… I so agree with so many who posted on the complaints on the voting being a joke! I can’t agree more with them more. And I decided that I am only entering the daily challenge and no more than that! They will not get another penny from me and I refuse to download any more games to play to get diamonds to buy anything. Once my money runs out I’m out of here! I sure hope they will fix all these major complaints of so many people.
I also hope they will read the reviews on their site. On that note good luck on playing this game which is a joke. If I didn’t spend real money to play I would have deleted it by now.

    • That’s right I be tripping off of that. Like they say vote to get more votes to make your score higher so you can get a 5. Also I was going thru the high ranks and seen a player was hitting 5’s in every design.

  65. So frustrating to not receive the diamonds promised after taking a survey or downloading an app. Sent reports in but never get any response other then a robo email. What a joke!

  66. I have a question,i have like 60-70.000$ that i won for upgrading levels, like a gift or something but i cant use it anywhere, its just sitting there next to my profile photo. What can i do with that?

    • That money next to your design profile is probably the amount you have spent so far. When you get to a million you will be on level 2. Every time you use a million dollars of merchandise your level will increase. The amount of cash you have to spend is in a row with your current status, diamonds, and keys above any room you are designing.

  67. My phone locked up during play. I accidentally bought a really ugly rug that used most of my money in app. Anyway to refund and remove rug fro my inventory?

  68. I wish that we could filter the items by price – low to high – I spend a ridiculous amount of time trying to find the one perfect item I can afford for each challenge. But I guess they want you to look at absolutely every stick of furniture and accessory, so that you scroll through all the items in hopes that you’ll be tempted to buy some stuff in-game or maybe even in real life :-/

I also wondered if certain people actually down-voted some really nice designs on purpose (to give their own a better chance?) as a strategy, partly because it seems like the top designers are always the same ones… Am I crazy?

Also, I’d like to see new rugs, new artwork and posters, cheaper plants, vintage pieces, more boho and scandi-style pieces, and omg less fugly wallpaper! That said I love the s*** out of this game ^^

    • This is a late reply but I agree with you on the creativity issue. I adore classy designs but I miss seeing funkier designs, as you said, bo-ho, truly industrial and contemporary, fairy tale style, etc… I feel the players some players may be torn between being creative and truly having fun with the game or going for the prizes and cash… Besides, who votes for the designs ? How do we know they’re not downvoting people for their own benefit ?

  69. I am new to to this game and am having no luck in getting an answer to my question. Maybe this lovely bunch of peeps might know. I have items I have bought and used only once in my inventory but they are not showing up under the “owned” items when I am working a design. I can not figure out how to access them. I can see them in the inventory list but not in my “owned” list. Appreciate any info you have regarding making use of inventory. Thanks

  70. Hello, Tracie. You probably won’t get an answer at all. I have been running into the same issue and have written numerous tickets to no avail whatsoever. My disappeared items are not showing up in my inventory either. This is suddenly happening all too often, use an item once and it disappears. And this happens with items I purchased, not with ugly prize items.
CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL US WHAT IS GOING ON?!

  71. BTW, these diamond accumulating cheats did not work for me. I downloaded two of the apps – which, btw, I did NOT want, and tested them for several minutes, and the screen kept telling me I had to download two more apps.
NO. Kindly be upfront with your requirements. I do not appreciate half instructions, only to be told to keep doing more, and more, and more.

  72. Me again. More of my inventory has just vanished, I haven’t even used anything, I look for things I know for a fact I had last time I checked and they’re just not there.
I am embarrassed to admit I have sunk my own money into this game.
Sucker born every minute. DON’T BE ONE.

  73. I’ve noticed the 5 ⭐️ designers often have an ok design (black and white or monotone) and are put up against a really awful design. Of course I don’t know this until I vote for the ok design. Why are the 5 ⭐️ designers protected, do they spend lots of money? I spend $5 per week and can’t get above a 4.5 average. It is frustrating to not be able to move things, like when a plant blocks a beautiful view or picture in an awkward location.

  74. I think a “Cap” should be set on how many time a person designs with Black, White and Turquoise! Geeze…if people would actually read the design description, maybe we would see some pretty color! So tired of the same Black, White and “Aqua”! Takes the fun out of playing. Maybe people should stop voting for those same designs….hmmmmm?!

  75. I really enjoyed it for the most part, it’s fun and wonderful. The only complaint, I have is a challenge that is ridiculous for my level. It requires very high items and more unfortunate, I received 3.50 score for that. Like what gives, that’s the most unfair score ever, for a low level. It’s not my fault, I don’t have high end items.

  76. You are all so right!!! The highest scoring designers use all white, black and white, grey, teal, or rarely beige ALL the time and basically use even the same pieces and looks over and over no matter the background. I don’t like that there is no room for eclectic or modern design in the sense of being creative or new. It is very formulaic if you want to win! There should be more points given to those who actually attempt to fulfill the theme–what a concept! Also, the fact that there is no “community” makes the game harder and lonelier.

BTW for those who think they have lost their dining tables, etc. what I have found is they will often simply not appear as options until you get to a room that is large enough. For example, only round tables will show sometimes but all the tables will show other times. So they are probably still there. If you check your inventory, they should be there.

    • ABSOLUTELY !!! I am very new to the game but have noticed that there is a total disregard for the little background story they provide. Yes, girly stuff being usesd in a boy’s bedroom, etc. What I also do NOT appreciate is the fact that wall art and plants are SOOO hard to get. To me they are the real focal point and the options are simply not there, like, I have to reach level 50 to get a specific painting ????!!!!! Or plant ???!!!! It looks like you’re very knowledgeable as far as the mechanics of the game so, can I ask you a question ? You can use the item 5 times. Then, you have to buy it again. Do you have to buy the same item over and over and over again in case you use it a lot ? Btw, thank you for the tip on Apt2B :)

  77. Here are some GREAT tips for new users! Buy the lowest priced furniture that still looks good. Try Apt B since it is very cheap, and buy only white, off white, black, or other neutrals to get going so they can be used in many settings. Don’t buy orange to fit an orange room, or some weird gothic thing, etc. It’s better to just use basics maybe with colored accents if needed. If you have to buy a certain brand name look for the lowest price item they have such as a lamp or stool unless something is a great piece at a great price that you can use over and over again. You can put your own side table in to see what lamps are offered in the brand. And only enter rooms that your items actually look good in, don’t try to enter every challenge.

Also, there truly are some reputable ways to get diamonds. I have gotten 60,000 or more diamonds by completing some offers for just a few dollars. Some are cons but many are not. Look for well-known, reputable companies, although I never got my 6,000 from downloading the Starbucks app!! But I have gotten many good offers and then the diamonds can be converted to cash if desired. Mostly, ALWAYS do the daily challenge even if it is all you can do. Believe it or not you can rack up the $2500 per day and then get the daily reward of 20 keys and 500 diamonds and do quite well in the game.

I used to be flat broke but now I average around $25,000 in cash and $30,000 in diamonds at all times just by learning to do this. Be wise and thrifty in what you spend and try to get the same look as an expensive item at a lesser price. I’m on Level 28 and I have so much furniture and other items I want to get rid of some because it takes too long to search through, and most from prizes or bad buys just sits there. I wish there was a way to donate or trade things that aren’t being used.

I’m still mastering how to get the highest scores and I do admire those who do great designs. But like everyone says I’ve seen some great designs of others and of my own get low scores. So most days I don’t worry that much about scores and just try to get over 4’s and enjoy the game. Even with all its faults though I’m going to keep playing for now and I want to encourage others. You can do it! Keep trying!!!

  78. Well, I see we all agree… forget the theme, use black and white only and buy the most expensive items, (although how they afford it early on I can’t imagine). I wish I had access to all that wonderful wall art and cool pics. I feel like it will take me forever to get to those levels. I bet tempered to do one of their rooms and see what happens but I actually like working within the theme and the background. I will probably stop sooner than later though because of the frustration with the inventory.

  79. So I’ve been thrifty and watched what a spent, and ended up banking about 20k in cash and 8k in diamonds. I’d do the daily and one other design every day. I log in today to see that almost all my money and diamonds are gone. Like they reset me!? Has his happened to anyone else?

  80. Can you keep people.from seeing your progress? I have noticed friends playing.. adding new designs daily.. but their money and level hasn’t changed for months!

  81. I’m having the same problems as listed above. I won a dining table in yesterday’s daily challenge but it doesn’t show when I do today’s challenge. I is listed in my inventory but not in the challenge and it’s the only dining table I have. How do I get it to show? I’ve already cleared out my cache.

  82. It’s so frustrating because my designs look better than most of the winners, but I keep getting low marks. The ones that I don’t put too much though into for some reason end up with high marks. I also follow the rules of each challenge and requirements, and still end up with low scores. This is so frustrating! Why does this happen!

  83. I have noticed that after I spend my own money to buy diamonds, the number of diamonds I have is reduced (without me spending them) the next time I play, whether it’s overnight or just a few hours. Has anyone else experienced this?

  84. I’m glad I found this I found some tips and tricks that really helped, so here is some of my own…. as someone said above making sure you log in every day to do the daily challenge and collect your freebies is always a good idea, A lot of the diamond surveys are scams but try to do the ones that ask you to download an app and open it and you can just delete it after, apt2b has nice things similar too and cheaper than others, also I ONLY buy Lilo (sp?) rugs they are all between 600-800$ And even though it is time consuming scroll through all your options I have found Ottomans for 64$!! , and to fill requirements (blue bubbles) look for little things like lamps and side tables and stools they’re cheaper than couches and chairs

  85. Paula I have noticed that too! It seems like I go through the $ way faster than I thought I should have. I now know that other people are having the same problem. I am not crazy! This game is an obsession! I agree with everything I have read and have yelled at my Tablet many times. I spend a lot of time on the challenges. I match Grey’s and Blues to make sure they coordinate. I have been playing for one year, I have spent a mint on this game. I wish I had found them s site a year ago. It would have saved me many arguments with my husband over the $ I have spent. I will take the advice and stop spending so much money! Thanks!

  86. Ok, I am going to vent! Has anyone looked at any design magazine? Not once have they put two of the same picture on a design! I refuse to vote on anyone that does this. I don’t care how well they put the design together! Just do 1 picture.and definitely not 3 of the same picture! 8 out of the 9 Players that won
(5.00)of t his past week had 2 of the same paintings as part of their design! Also, when you post a design only to get the $500, I get it! Don’t bother putting up pictures or items to go on tables or counters. Since I wrote the above note to all,I am much more observant. I am trying hard to not buy as much as I have! I have improved already.

    • Just wanted to ask if anyone is having a problem with borrowing from friends on Facebook ?When I go to ‘borrow’ none of my friends’ icons are there anymore ‍♀️( more than a week passed by since I’ve borrowed from them :((( ) .What am I missing here ?

  87. I have a problem with “awaiting results”… I have designs that are finished 6 days ago and the votes we’re done for days ago but my results didn’t come out. I have 4 designs awaiting for results with no time frame. I just wanna get my prize from those designs. Can you help me?

  88. So obvious and not helpful. Just wasted ten minutes reading this. When people who have no taste vote that’s how those bs winners get top ratings. How are these designs a five? It looks like trailer park no talent design and it’s fake. A total waste like this article

  89. I am annoyed at the size of the table art…..does anyone else feel like many of the table art pieces are too small for the tables?? You can’t even see them unless the table is right at the front of the room. I love the stupid little horse sculpture, but have yet to be able to place it where you can actually tell what it is, because it is just too small. The same is true of many of the planters that go on tables, they are just too small.

    • To my observation more expensive items are bigger and the colors are also more popping. Cheaper items are smaller and also the colors are dull.

  90. I disagree with many of these “tips”
    1. I agree don’t waste money, but don’t try to buy the cheapest stuff early on. Look for versatile items. Also never convert diamonds into cash. Even if cash is at zero and you try to buy something it converts diamonds in the moment 1:1. The best items need diamonds to purchase. Spend wisely.

    2. You do NOT have to follow the theme. While It would be nice it is NOT necessary. There is nothing beneficial from following it. Make the best room possible. Ppl who follow the “theme” Always complain when Mediterranean comes up because they score horribly no matter how well they create a room. The theme has no baring on your score.
    3. Don’t copy what others are doing. 1 the top designs are all cookie cutter. They are boring and they use a single color for the majority of the room and always use double of the same artwork. It actually looks horrible. Most ppl wouldn’t live with a room where every piece of furniture is teal or red, every piece of decor. And I don’t know anyone who buys two of the same art work or 2 maps and hangs them next to each other or on opposing walls.
Make rooms you like, try to score a 4.0 or better to get the main prize. And remember the only difference from a 4.0 to a 5.0 Is 125 diamonds. And you will spend more than than trying to get the 5 all the time. Also maintaining a high score doesn’t net you any additional reward so there isn’t any importance too it. Plus the game is more fun when the score doesn’t matter.
    4. Stop voting when you get to 75 keys. That’s the max. Vote often up to then but after that you’re wasting time.
    5. Pick and choose your rooms. If the prize sucks, leave it be. You will spend more in resources trying to play the room than the piece is worth especially if you don’t like it.
