Sega has just launched their highly anticipated endless runner game, Sonic Runners, on the App Store and the game does manage to bring back all the sweet Sonic memories of the past. It’s fun, it’s fast, it’s intense and even though the starting stages are a bit crappy because they spam you with pop ups and information you’re going to forget anyway, overall we’re still talking about an amazing game.
One that’s insanely difficult, too, so for that reason we’ve decided to come and help you with some Sonic Runners cheats and tips that will help you get your best high score yet and climb up the rankings in no time. So read on to learn how to get more rings, unlock new characters and get the most out of the game in our Sonic Runners tips and tricks article!
1. Don’t jump that often
Event though it’s Sonic that we’re talking about and the only control that you have over the hedgehog is to make it jump, you should not overdo it. On most occasions, the game throws at you a series of enemies and obstacles that you can naturally go through without any extra jumping. So just keep an eye on how everything goes and onl jump when necessary.
2. Level Up Your Characters
Spend the Rings you get during gameplay – even though they’re really difficult to get to level up your characters. Each new level increases the performance of the power-ups you can collect in game and gives you more and more chances of getting a better high score than you did the previous run.
3. Get the free goodies
No matter if we’re talking about free Spins or free gift, make sure that you are always on the lookout for free goodies and claim them before it’s too late. Check out the daily challenges and complete them as well, trying to go for them each day for a week in a row to get the super reward at the end!
4. Select the right buddies
At first, you won’t have a ton of buddies to choose from, but as you progress through the game, things will change and you will have to make a choice. Go for the highest level buddies that increase your base score and the duration of in-game power-ups. I found out that this is the best combination to increase your high score.
5. Always have some rings on you
I know it’s not really a choice, but try to go get at least a ring whenever you see it, especially if you have just hit an obstacle – if you hit an obstacle when you have no rings (the screen blinks red), then it’s game over. However, if you hit an obstacle when you still have some rings – or at least one – you can carry on running. That’s why it’s extremely important to always have some rings on you – better lose them when you hit an opponent rather than losing the game!
6. Learn and anticipate Eggman’s attacks
It’s pretty easy, actually, to defeat the bosses in the game – they will always attack following a preset and you can always know, just by looking at how the attack, what’s going to come at you next. As soon as you know their attacks, you can easily get to them and take them out.
7. Equip items and boosters
Ideally, gather a bunch of rewards first and level up and know how to properly play the game. Then start using the Equippable items and Boosters that you have to increase your score even more. Have in mind that those that directly increase your score are not necessarily the best: those who keep you alive or grant you major bonuses are!
