Puzzle to the Center of the Earth is a very expansive game, so we’re going to give you some general tips with our Puzzle to the Center of the Earth tips guide to becoming the ultimate digger!

1. Don’t worry about collecting everything in one run!

After the first few levels, you’ll learn that each level has a star and a lever in it. Stars are required for unlocking future levels, and if you find enough levers in a certain amount of levels, you’ll unlock a secret level that has a lot of goodies! When you first start out though, you probably won’t have the means to find everything in one go, not counting sheer luck. Don’t worry about finding everything at once, come back later once you’ve learned new formulas and upgrades!

2. Try to leave a way back up!

When you’re matching blocks downward, try to do it in a fashion that leaves some stepping stones behind, like a staircase of some sort. Remember that you can get a little height with your jump, so you don’t need to have a perfect staircase. You don’t want to lock yourself out of a star or lever because you don’t have a way back up! Although, this may be hard to do due to the nature of the randomness of the puzzle layout, but try your best.

3. Look for premade openings!

A telling hint to where one of the treasures in a level is, is a big opening. Have you noticed sometimes there are small spaces where there are no blocks? Try making your way towards those openings and explore the surrounding area. More often than not, you’ll find the star in that level! This sometimes works for levers too, but it is important to remember that levers can sometimes be hidden inside blocks.

4. Use formulas to your advantage!

Formulas are introduced in the third level. Matching blocks in a certain color order will cause a chain reaction to happen, and depending on the formula, cool stuff will happen! The first formula you get is Explosion, which is performed by matching Blue -> Red -> Green. This will destroy a good chunk of surrounding blocks, making it awesome for conserving energy! A formula requires one catalyst, which looks exactly like energy but is colored red. Catalysts can be found randomly lying around, but you can also make one by matching 6 or more blocks. You can buy more formulas in the camp, such as the Energy and Magnet formulas. The energy formula is particularly useful as pulling it off creates an energy block right on the spot, which can be handy if you’re running low.

5. Buy some Detectors for easy star scouting!

Can’t be bothered to dig around for the star? There’s an item in the camp you can buy called a Detector. It helps you find the location of the star in a level, and it only costs a measly 75 coins. If you’re having trouble finding a star, don’t be afraid to buy one of these!
