1. Get some free loot!
If you head into the shop, you’ll find there is a section dedicated to free stuff! In here there are three different categories of free things you can get: rare supplies, units, and regular supplies. Each one has its own cooldown, meaning you can get three categories worth of stuff! Just make sure to come back after the cooldowns are finished to keep a steady supply of supplies.
2. Attack your opponent’s first strikers first!
As you learn in the tutorial, the first strike of a round is given to the team that has the highest first strike value, which are represented by the blue numbers. When you first start a match, examine your enemy’s team and see which of their units has blue numbers. You should prioritize these units first; the Targeting ability is useful for this. If you manage to take out all of their units with blue numbers, the enemy team will never be able to go first, giving you a slight advantage.
3. Balance your team out!
If you go through your beginning units, you’ll notice there’s a trend among them. The lighter units with less HP tend to have more blue attacks, but lower damage values. The heavier units with more HP usually have only one or no blue attacks, but higher damage values. You’re going to want a even balance between the two for your team, so that you have ample chances to first strike and you have enough damage to back it up.
4. Always bring the Targeting ability!
The most basic but effective strategy you can employ is to focus fire and take down your enemy one by one. With high enough rolls and the Targeting ability, you should be able to take down one of your enemy’s units every turn. If you don’t use the Targeting ability, your units will just randomly pick their targets, spreading your damage all over the place. Taking out one unit first will reduce the overall damage your team takes, so it’s much better to do that than to just hit randomly.
5. Use units that have red attacks!
Some units have red attack bars, kind of like the blue attack bars. These red bars signify that the unit has a special ability, which can range from deploying a armor increasing shield, attacking multiple times, and more. These special abilities only activate if you land on the red space during your spin, so if you want to rely on them heavily bring the Respin ability with you.
6. Level up your units!
Your units can be leveled up, something that isn’t explicitly stated in the tutorial, strangely. Just tap on the unit in your squad on the main menu, and you can see what stats the unit will have when it’s at maximum level. The unit’s health will go up, along with its damage values. You’re going to have to do this at the beginning, as the enemy units will be somewhat stronger. Don’t go overboard though, as you will be able to craft new units with better potential as you progress through the game.
